Improved frame rates with new Nvidia driver 388.43

After installing latest driver tonight I took my Spitfire up for a spin in Normandy in DCS World 2.1. no other units, just me and the airfield. Pleasantly surprised to see a noticeable improvement in frame rates from an average 35 ish to a solid 45 fps when flying same mission.

Ditto, would be interested to see if that's fixed in the new driver update. I sure hope so.

you found 385 to be better than 388.13. I'm running 388.31, which was better than .13.

I have not tried 385...

just curious to hear more data points.

cool I will have to try the latest.

I noticed instant judder when I went from 385.41 to 388.13

the mi-8 was terrible. rolling back to the previous driver which was 385 on my system fixed it.

I did not try 388.31

I installed the windows fall edition yesterday and I instantly noticed the judders again.

it had reset my driver settings and reinstalled the latest again (388.13)

so I'm a bit fed up with playing with drivers.

I see another thread reporting 388.41 as fixing these issues.

There was a bug in the 388.13 drivers that introduced jitter when running a monitoring programs such as Precision, Afterburner, AIDA 64, mainly when power monitoring was selected.

388.31 was supposed to fix that issue.

Yes I am flying in VR, and yes I usually update Nvidia drivers as they come out. While I haven't experienced some of the issues others have had with previous drivers, my frame rates have been a bit up and down with them. But I felt this latest update was worthy of comment as the improvement was very noticeable.

make sure you update the DCS beta install. they pushed a hot fix for the Harrier. It definitely helps! I'm staying at 388.31 for now. the hot fix seems to do the trick.

Ah, it was .13 that was giving me issues...never tried .31.

Confusing how those numbers were just reversed version to version haha, my mistake.

385 (from August. I believe) has been running very well for me though in VR, FWIW. I will give the new update a shot tonight.

go get the hot fix before doing anything! just update the beta install. a new hot fix was issued, and it does a great job!

Copy that, it's already #1 on my list of "things to do" once I get home from the office tonight for the weekend.

I can't wait to fly the Harrier again...I only got 1 short hour with it on launch day, and was out of pocket all day yesterday. Pumped :pilotfly:

Hey buddy, just an update. The hotfix is a true winner! I used it with the 388.31 driver. Then I've seen reports of folks saying the 388.43 eeked out some more FPS. So I installed that later today. My "butt" flying says the .43 driver is a winner.

the hotfix is the biggie. the .43 driver is the gravy.

I'm happy with this setup. the Harrier is a whole new bird now (within VR).

Gawd the cockpit is just incredible.... too bad I fly off for a week tomorrow. I'd love to fly some more.

Great job Razbam! you guys nailed it.

So just to clarify, the new nvidia drivers (.43?) eliminates the ghosting or lag issues in earlier ones? Just as good as 385?

Yeah I would say it's "as good" but don't really see where it's "better". Pretty similar performance for me.

Just FYI: installed and tried out .43 and the ghosting/lag came back, unfortunately.

Restart your Oculus software. I thought mine came back, but I restarted everything and have been in the clear since.

Might be worth a shot?

Also double check in GeForce Experience that is updated all the way to .43

I ran DDU and then executed the downloaded file for the install of .43 and it only updated to .13 in the GeForce software, then I had to run the update again within GE to get to .43
