Well I got my copy today and just instaled the game. Patched it to v1.02 calibrated my joystick and was up and running. Hats off to the makers of this game. I can't remeber when I had more fun playing a PC game. It's a shame game developers have stoped making Simulation games. I will be buying Black Shark when it comes out. Now all I need is a good Tank Sim.

Well my son saw me playing and after he scooped his jaw off the floor I told him I would buy him his own copy of the game. He will need a proper Joystick and I was thinking of giving him my Saitek Cyborg EVO and would need to buy a replacement for me. Can anyone suggest a good joystick? One with rudder and throttle controls and USB.

I am interested in Flaming cliffs but wanted to ask a few questions. Is it only for sale by Download? or can I get a copy that has a CD. Also I live in the USA and want to make sure it will work for my region.

Pilotasso Thanks for the friendly welcom and I would like to play online but I am new to this game and have no idea where to start. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks Everyone for your help.

Isn't it funny, when people after 3 years from the LOMAC's release, find about it and are so amazed, that they have to visit this or UBI's forum, just to say hi?

It just shows how cool this sim really is!

Get a CD version, called Lock On Gold Edition - it has Flaming Cliffs add-on included. For joystick, I would recommend Saitek X52 - relatively cheap to buy and of good quality. Another ''need-to-get'' item would be TrackIR from Natural Point, for head movement.

:) Cyborg evo is very good to start. Im a serious SIMer but with restricted budget and I got a Saitek X52. It was the best blend I could find. Its return to center tension is very weak but I went arround it by placing a rubber doughnut shaped disk spacer under the spring located at the sticks axis and that resolved the problem for me.

As for online play, you need hyperloby:

http://hyperfighter.sk/

read instructions, tell that program were LOMAC is installed, write your name and associated password for it and then you can jump in on any server.

If you can find this stick I'd get this. You won't find a cheaper hotas with rudder. I've had mine for 4 years, it lasted 3 years before I started to get any problems with it. The rudder is either stick twist or finger paddles on the throttle, which is what I use, very convenient. The X52 is a very good stick but like Pilotasso said you will have to do something about the spring force, its very very limp.

BTW Pilotasso, I don't spose you could post some pics of what you did to your X52, I've got two mates who want to do something similar.

Welcome Zycore and son, this has got to be the best community ive been around so you can't go wrong commiting yourself to the sim.

As for joysticks, all mentioned are quality ,just letting you know that ive owned a Logitech Extreme pro(Budget stick) for a few years now and its been value for money and some ,moving up the ladder now though to a Saitek X52pro Hotas. Its just a case of how much you want to spend and how serious you are. And TrackIR is a must it may not seem much but after a week your amazed and wont be able to live without it.

Heres the pictures (with bad lighting):

1)The rubber disk, with a notch to slide into the sticks axis

2)Placing the disk

3)How it looks like in the end

I recomend using a material like rubber because the CD spacers everybody uses are made of foam and they get squashed over time reducing pre tension.

Actually it's a military simulator made available to the public.
