fargo007 Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 Has anyone figured out how to drop a gbu-12? I only found one video from Jabbers and it really doesn't cover step-by-step. Thanks fellas, happy bombing! Have fun. Don't suck. Kill bad guys. https://discord.gg/blacksharkden/
dresoccer4 Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 (edited) yes! i've been dropping them all morning. just successfully bombed a lased target from 32,0000 feet. i've been using this mission with auto-laser targeting. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3041910/ i'm not great at describing the steps, but i'll give it a try. 1) select your GB-12's in the loadout screen on the MFD and activate the fuze 2) press sensor select down until you see "LST" in the HUD 3) point your nose towards the target. must be pretty straight-on to pick up the laser 4) once you're close enough (it can pick the laser up pretty far away) the HUD will snap a diamond around the target, and one of your MFD will show a video display of the target 5) then it's just like regular CCRP. there will be a countdown till release on the HUD 6) lineup with your target and press the pickle button when you're confident (i usually do about 10 seconds out) 7) at countdown = 0 the GBU-12 will auto-release and fall to target sorry if that didn't make sense. i promise it works though! here's a screenshot after i've auto-acquired a lased target: bombs away! perfect hit! fargo007 Posted December 2, 2017 Author Posted December 2, 2017 Thanks man, that might be a clue. I was just now able to get it to pick up the laser successfully, but the bomb doesn't drop. I see you have fuze set to TIN, I will try that. Trying again. Have fun. Don't suck. Kill bad guys. https://discord.gg/blacksharkden/

fargo007 Posted December 2, 2017 Author Posted December 2, 2017 Thanks a lot for helping me out. I repped you. Yup, master arm on, gbu-12 selected. I have ARM LST on the right MFCD. I do not get video on the right screen. I do get the bomb drop bar that comes down, but it doesn't actually drop it. I do have a tpod on. Is that possibly interfering? Have fun. Don't suck. Also, if your DMT switch in the ON position (in the lower panel)? i'm not sure if that matters or not, just brain storming... and thanks for the rep! not sure what that is but i'll take it Edited December 2, 2017 by dresoccer4 Acer Predator Triton 700 || i7-7700HQ || 512GB SSD || 32GB RAM || GTX1080 Max-Q || FFB II and Thrustmaster TWCS Throttle || All DCS Modules
fargo007 Posted December 2, 2017 Author Posted December 2, 2017 With only the 12's, I'm now good to go. These are definitely a lot of fun. Thanks for your help! So what I did: Put the laser code in on the mfcd. It activated the keypanel which said 1 1 1 1 . Changed it to my JTAC's code, 1688. I am on unlimited weapons but equipped four. After dropping those, to get them to work again I had to de-select them, then select again and re-arm. They don't miss either. Have fun. Don't suck. Kill bad guys. https://discord.gg/blacksharkden/

fargo007 Posted December 2, 2017 Author Posted December 2, 2017 Looks nice. Did you figure out how to designate your own targets for the GBU without having a JTAC? That's what I'm going after next. It's not workin' out. :noexpression: Have fun. Don't suck. Kill bad guys. https://discord.gg/blacksharkden/

Atooyi Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 anyone noticed, the gbu12 glides for 9-12 miles if you release it from 10-15 thousand altitude and 450kts speed? glides like a charm toward the target :| :|
fargo007 Posted December 2, 2017 Author Posted December 2, 2017 From reading the manual, I derive that the Litening/TPOD holds out that it can do this. Have fun. Don't suck. Kill bad guys. https://discord.gg/blacksharkden/

Atooyi Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 From reading the manual, I derive that the Litening/TPOD holds out that it can do this. it can guide LGBs,as it dose this on a-10c, but on razbam av-8b right now both TGP and NAV systems are incomplete and under development, so as long as I know and tested there are 2 choices to guide laser guided bombs , buddy lase and JTAC.
GoonerTC Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 Have a look at this guide, just watched it, very simple to understand
fargo007 Posted December 3, 2017 Author Posted December 3, 2017 Here's my Harrier training grounds. It's powered by Moose and CTLD. There are three areas where targets regenerate endlessly, randomly placed and of random types. Batumi coast, South of the river: Three targets here, all weapons hold. Batumi coast, North of the river: Same, all weapons hold. Kobuleti X runway: Three targets, weapons hot, that can definitely shoot you down. Radar guided SAM, AAA, and Tanks. Stay away from Kobuleti unless you're playing for keeps. There is also the LHA-1 in the water, static for landing/takeoff practice, and a S3-B tanker flying back and forth for refueling. When you kill a target in one of those three zones, another one will spawn at a random place within that same 700M radius. There are extra trucks and stuff around too. JTAC services are provided by CTLD. There are two JTAC's on the ground using 1688 laser code. You can only refuel and rearm on the ship (or fuel via AAR) Batumi will do nothing for you. Let me know if you try it out what you think.HARRIERTRAINING.miz Have fun. Don't suck. Kill bad guys. https://discord.gg/blacksharkden/

tflash Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 Anyone tried to self-lase with the Literning pod? I manage to do everything, so: - GBU-12 armed in stores page; - fuze set; - TPOD on Right MFD; - TPOD out of STBY; - TPOD from SAFE to armed - TPOD mode from training to LSR - target marked - TPOD set to FIRE (laser active) - Laser code OK 1688 I get the queues and everything, drop the bomb but it doesn't guide to the target. Altitude: 13.000 ft When I use a JTAC to lase evrything works fine, both with DMT as with Litening. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Zarma Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 I think the laser from TGP isnt operative yet. fargo007 Posted December 3, 2017 Author Posted December 3, 2017 So following some of the tutorials, holding down the pickle button on approach (the correct one) isn't working. It's releasing a GBU as soon as it's pressed. What have I got set wrong? HUD says LST / RAUT. Also changed that to LST / AUTO with same behavior. Have fun. Don't suck.
