mike pavitt Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 (edited) Hi. Can anyone help please? I may be being stupid here, but when I'm trying to train the speech recognition, I am having to train almost every single word - surely this can't be right? Even when I've typed the word and go back it mostly doesn't recognise what I've done. With over 500 phrases this will take me an entire week? Also, odd stuff, for example reading through the list, I get to 'Copy Kill', for example, and the MS microphone window shows 'copying...', and 'Cleared Hot' shows as 'Hot' - it simply will not accept the word cleared? Am I missing something please? It's certainly doing some bits ok, as it now recognises Binniville for example. When I'm training it, I also don't get any notification of the Confidence Level which I see in the tutorial, despite the correct box being checked? Any ideas? I have trained the speech recognition through the sound panel options over 10 times so I would have thought that would get me somewhere, but in Vaicom I can't even get 'Capital A, H, P, M, N', recognised. TIA, Mike Edited April 27, 2020 by mike pavitt I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous...

TIA, Mike In addition to what @MAXsenna has replied I worked through all the commands in training and worked out which ones voice recognition really struggled with. I then added these to the Windows dictionary (including recording my pronunciation). If they t still struggles, find a word or phrase it can easily understand when you say it and add an alias command using this word). You can always try problem words on their own or even try changing the order round in your speaking (e.g. Kill copy) to see if this helps Also, i found that slowing down my speech helped, leaving slightly longer pauses between words. This is the same advice I was given years ago regarding speaking in public as it boosts the listener's ability to understand. In terms of not seeing confidence levels, are you running Vaicom in debug mode? This will add a lot more information into the log. Razor18 Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 Hi Guys, a bit maybe off topic, but why VoiceAttack keeps popping up phantom "Unrecognised" words even if I'm (and so is the room too) completely silent? Which value should I increase to get rid of those false recognition of "Unrecognized" commands? Thanks

You can try to turn down mic levels. I've found that speaking in a lower voice, instead of "shouting", as I tend too do (Sony Walkman syndrom), when it doesn't "understand" me. Helps a lot. Hollywood_315 Posted April 27, 2020 Author Posted April 27, 2020 (edited) @mike pavitt When you don't see confidence levels in the log during training mode there's something not right. Read the user manual on Keywords Training again carefully, specifically make sure you are enabling the round mic icon in the speech recognition window. As stated in the manual, adding words to the speech dictionary should be necessary for no more than just a small number of stubborn words. Which ones, varies per user. In any case the engine will improve recognition rates the more you use it. Edited April 27, 2020 by Hollywood_315 There is no spoon. VAICOM PRO plugin for DCS World www.vaicompro.com
Hammer1-1 Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 (edited) Ahh! You see this is not VAICOM works. It doesn't have or use any keypresses. It talks directly with DCS (behind the scene). It uses Voice Attack as an interface with Microsoft Speech recognition, solely for the purpose of Speech To Text. Not like Voice Attack usually is used. I do not, have the Tomcat myself, yet. But I've got the AIRIO extension. Now, there is an issue with with AIRIO, that will be fixed, as other users are reporting. I think it's only for certain commands. Have you made VAICOM work with other modules? Just to check if you have VAICOM and MSSR setup correctly. You can also check the VA log, to see if commands are recognized and if and where they are stopped. Sent from my ANE-LX1 using Tapatalk Can you explain this? No I Havent been able to get VAICOM to work in anything because I dont understand anything about what this does in the first place. I dont speak military and Id rather just figure out what key commands are pressed when I say certain words in voice attack. I want to be able to say Jester start and he continues on with his start, and that selects this keybind. I dont understand what you mean by this thing interfaces with DCS behind the scene because all I understand of voice attack is for me to speak certain words for key presses. I have my own voice attack profile for other aircraft and it works exactly like I expect it to. Id like to make AIRIO work like I expect it to without having to learn all the military in the world. Just like I said. It doesn't use "the keyboard" or keybinds. Don't compare it to Voice Attack. They're not related. Behind the scenes. VAICOM talks directly with DCS with Lua code through the internal network in your computer. It only uses VA for recognition. And actually, VA doesn't understand Jack Shit either, as it uses Microsoft Speech Recognition for Speech To Text. I don't speak military anymore either. Read the manual, if not done already. All the commands you can say, or rather what you must say and how to say them, are all there. Watch some of the YT videos as well. NOT the Voice Attack ones. It's nothing military really. It works sort of like Voice Attack, just more immersive (and better) for radio comms and RIO. It doesn't use the radio menu. That's sort of the point. Can someone with the Tomcat help this fella out with some commands he can say and how? (If VA is working for him, training should already be done). And I repeat. You should read the manual, as it will better explain what I did. You want regret this when you get it working. As for commands for gear/flaps etc. That is not part of VAICOM, but you can use other VA profiles together with VAICOM to complish that. EDIT: And BTW. If you've not read the manual. I bet you're TX buttons aren't set up. And then nothing will work. Sent from my ANE-LX1 using Tapatalk Edited April 27, 2020 by MAXsenna
LtSpoon Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 I have a little problem with Vaicom Pro. If I set a frequency of an airport in the F-18, for example Kutaesi 133,000 I can speak to the tower via Vaicom. But if I want to land on Kobuleti, set the new frequency, for example the 134,000 and then say "Inbound", Vaicom still speaks to Kutaesi. Sometimes even to the Stennis although a completely different frequency is set. ZoneySD Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 Hi Folks. First, let me thank MAXstenna for all of his help with me getting VAICOM to overall. Huge help and very much appreciated! BTW, I figured out that I had an issue with my DCS install so I basically uninstalled and reinstalled DCS, VA, and VAICOM Pro. Works like a champ now. One issue I'm seeing, and I'm pretty certain it's my noob mission editor skills (lack thereof) is that when I built an AAR mission to practice, it isn't recognizing the tanker in VAICOM. The tanker is on screen but I can't talk to it. I've manually tuned to the freq from the mission editor and it just goes back and tries to TX on the mission Flight freq. Maybe this question is better suited to a thread around the mission editor but I'm trying to use VAICOM to no avail. One other thing, when I do an interrogate from Crystal Palace (British soccer fan?), it tells me there are no refueling assets in the theatre. If I need to go to a different forum thread for this one, I totally understand. Other than that, loving this tool!

Its simple, not too convoluted and I know exactly what each function does when I speak it. Right now, I just want a very simplified version of AIRIO that works the way I want it to work.
