rgp1942 Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 For us WWII aviation history buffs, please consider producing a Pacific Theater campaign that includes key battle places, Pacific Theater planes including both American and Japanese fighters, torpedo bombers, dive bombers, and strategic bombers, and significant aircraft carriers. I believe this will be a very appealing and popular addition to the DCS World product line. There will be teams that specialize in Pacific Theater strategies and combat. Imagine the thrill of dog fighting Hellcat vs Zero, or torpedoing a carrier with the TBF Avenger. Thanks! p.s. For moderator - please move to appropriate forum if this is not the best place for this product improvement suggestion.
Kayos Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 Maybe with the F4U, keep your fingers crossed. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
tintifaxl Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 Have you taken a look at the modders section? There is a Pearl Harbor mod out. Might carry you over until DCS: WW2 Pacific is released. Windows 10 64bit, Intel i9-9900@5Ghz, 32 Gig RAM, MSI RTX 3080 TI, 2 TB SSD, 43" 2160p@1440p monitor.
rgp1942 Posted January 3, 2018 Author Posted January 3, 2018 Is there actually a WWII Pacific planned?
Kang Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 Before talking about campaigns, lets first get maybe a map and a module for the theme done.
SharpeXB Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 I will guess there’s not enough information available about Japanese aircraft to model them to DCS standards. Maybe as AI aircraft they could be possible but not flyable ones. i9-14900KS | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | 64GB DDR5 5600MHz | iCUE H150i Liquid CPU Cooler | ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 OC | Windows 11 Home | 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe | Corsair RM1000x | LG 48GQ900-B 4K OLED Monitor | CH Fighterstick | Ch Pro Throttle | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR 5
tintifaxl Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 Is there actually a WWII Pacific planned? Not that I know of. The old Leatherneck team was talking about doing an Iwo Jima map and a carrier for the F4-U but that was some time ago. Faelwolf Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 I think it could happen if there is enough interest shown in Pacific theater aircraft. F4U and P38L would be a good start. I would be quite happy to have both. Both aircraft saw use in the European theater (though rather limited in the case of the F4U, in it's British configuration) so would not be too out of place in the Normandy map, but they really shined in the Pacific. Given the history of the Normandy map and WW2 aircraft as DCS modules, there is unfortunately not enough inertia to bring about a Pacific theater map without a lot of support for the aircraft first. The general increase of WW2 era aircraft might start to get the attention of the old Air Warrior and Aces High online flight sim crowd, which could result in quite a few sales and interest in expanding the line even further for ED. I personally think at this point we will just have to wait and see, though I remain hopeful.
AG-51_Razor Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 A good sized map of the Solomon Islands would probably be the best place to start IMHO. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Captain Orso Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 It would be awesome if ED coordinated with the 3rd parties to take on a specific year as a starting-point, like 1942, and then concentrate on producing only aircraft flying in that year. I suggested once having some section of the Solomons. It's a huge area, but it's mostly water, so I imagine the map file would not be much larger, if at all, that any other map. Then the possibilities would be great for mission and campaigns. What I would worry about would be running into P-47-Syndrome; not being able to collect the required documents to produce key aircraft. What would the point be, if you could not produce an A6M2-21 Zero? When you hit the wrong button on take-off System Specs.
