Freezes here and freeze there. The Graphik is complete washed out. No Weapons in Avionik from A-10C but on the Stores outside of the Plane,i can see my Weapons. What is going up with DCS?

Shit, i´m out.

Ok good, it´s hard with DCS at the Time. I hope the Sim will find back to his old Beauty of Version 2.5.0, with the next Update. The Look of the new 2.5.1 is a "nogo" at the Moment, sorry.

Ok pretty good!

The First Step is done.

I have given Reshade a Try. Now i have my good old 2.5.0-Look back in the Version 2.5.1.

That´s really amazing!

But i will continue testing for Freezes. First Flight of 1,5 Hours today was pretty much better. 2 short Freezes of evt. 1 Second.

Which "look" do you mean? I had no difference in graphics going from 2.5 to 2.5.1...??

What, you have no Difference between 2.5.0 and 2.5.1 in the Appearance of DCS? That was really not to be overlooked. 2.5.1 looks washed out, Shadows are gray and the sunlight and Colorspace seem less powerful, but at the same time the Nightlighting is a bit brighter, better. Two friends have already confirmed that.

Hey Folks, I have no idea about this stuff so hopefully the computer savvy members could look into this:

Today playing deadlyfishes' latest Las Vegas Through the Inferno mission in F5e (single player offline), I had a freeze on latest 2.5.1 I started looking through the Task Manager (Win10 home 64bit) and noticed the GPU (gtx 1070 8gb with latest nvidia drivers) activity was virtually 0% (obviously just rendering the frozen screen) while the SSD I have DCS installed on was 0%.

I looked further into the Wait Chain analysis for the application which said, "one or more threads of DCS.exe are waiting to finish network I/O". The DCS thread is 10768. My network perfomance shows virtually 0% with an occasional little blip of sent data (8Kbps).

Does this mean anything to anyone? I am running an I5 6600K with all 4 threads usable by DCS, and the CPUs are all showing 35% to 45% utilisation.

Cheers!

Dave

Cheers Dave,

nice deep Analysis.

But how could we help you now? This is more likely to help us realize that there are apparently more Sources of Error in DCS 2.5 than we think. I think your Problem is a clear Case for the Ed-Supportteam.

If the problem is related to network IO stuff, what happens in "Offline-Mode"?

Thanks Coffee,

No, not looking for help or anything. I was just reporting something I noticed that could potentially be investigated by someone more "in the know" regarding these freezes and micro stutters problems.

I think I'm lucky in the fact that it is extremely rare that I experience a freeze or stutter, so I chalk them up to being due to the current Beta state.

Cheers!

Dave

Hey Airbus,

Yeah I hadn't looked at "Offline mode" yet. I found it interesting that DCS.exe would be looking for network I/O when not playing multiplayer. But as I said, I have no idea about this stuff and was hoping members may investigate to see if it is part of these freeze and micro stutter problems.

Cheers!

Dave

Will try it in offline mode in the next days and report back!

Can remember, some time ago somewhere was a similar discussion about possible relations between network-io-stuff and freezes. Interesting!

Hey Guys!

What I also found very interesting, is this Entry from my previously posted Logfile.

2018-05-08 19: 19: 10,545 ERROR NET: HTTP request https://www.google-analytics.com/collect?v=1&tid=UA-56757600-2&cid=94A8DBEA0921FDBD4259BC937E47EA8F&an=DCS%2Fopenbeta&av=2.5.1.16543&t= event & ec = settings & ea = statistics & el = disabled failed with error 6: Could not resolve host name

What has DCS to do with Google Analytics?

Suppose that in this case, offline is not the same as offline.

So...

2 hours of flight in "offline mode", 2 small freezes and one fat one (about 10 seconds or so). So offline mode is not the solution and Coffee76 was right.

But my first idea is still there... could be related to TrackIR, because for me the trouble started right with my first TrackIR-flight.

The problem is... to try it out, I have to fly without my beloved TrackIR... and I dont want this. Someone else...? ;-)

Hi, all... I was training with a friend of mine 2 nights ago. I use a 3 screen setup, and he has 1 screen. I froze up like 3 times, the sound still playing from my speakers. He reported to me that it looked like from his cockpit that I was suspended in mid-air. He proceeded to fly over me shooting his guns. Yet all I saw was the screen that froze. During the freeze, nothing changed on my screen. The last freeze was terminal, to which I had to tell him to leave the game. Since I had hosted... I didn't want to crash his game. After I had to Ctrl/ Alt/ Del, to get out of the freeze. This was in the stable release, as I had about given up on the 2.5.1 not freezing up on me... I really hope they can fix this issue, soon. I pre-purchased the F/A 18C, and I know that will only be on the OB release til all the bugs get worked out. I have faith that ED will get it all worked out (as they always do) it's now just a matter of when... Thanks for reading... BTW this was on 5/7/18.

PS I was told that my system should be capable of running DCS on Medium to High settings...

Thanks again for reading...

Good Morning, with good News from my Side!

Today in the early Morninghours, i have made a big Flight of 2:39 Hour with A-10C and no Freeze. The Simulator was in Online Mode but the Flight was Offline and is running very good.

Update: Still a few brief pauses in 2.5.1, but it is a good update. I am using 3 screens in multiplayer.
