Ok so I will just preface this by saying, I am a Single Player only guy and I have no shame - I will fly with labels on at times.

I keep watching and hoping with updates, that something gets done with the size of the labels. They are just too dang big in VR, and cover everything up making it hard to actually see the target. It is especially exaggerated in ground targets that are close together, or even planes parked on a runway that are close to each other.

I so hope that someday these labels for VR can be reduced in size, making them less obstructive.

And the models, get so small without being all that far away in VR. I know they played around with model scaling/visibility at one point, hope they can take another look at it down the road.

Labels should be tiny when the object is far away and grow in size as you get closer to them. It's a good idea, but it never seems to happen.

Are you able to map labels to a HOTAS command so they can be flicked on and off again at the click of a button with DCS? That's what I do with BOS, and its much more palatable. Have a quick glance and then turn them off again, pretending you never did it!

I created a thread waaaaaaaaaay back in the day and a good tweak as adjusting the labels to your preference:

https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=129920

Best part of 4 years ago now, so likely a couple of things need to be updated, but the principle should be the same.

Essentially go to \config\view\labels.lua and tweak to your hearts content.

Unfortunately, as far as I'm aware the only thing you can't change is size :)

Modifying labels is the way to go. The labels options/API have been improved considerably since the above, and now there are so many nice things to tweak. One of the best mods exploiting all of these can be found here:

https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3163055&postcount=12

Improvements include: centering the dot on the a/c rather than offset, visibility fading with distance, smaller font size, etc. etc.

Thanks guys, I will check it out.

Still , I Just wish those darn labels were smaller by default rather than huge billboards in VR.

You can (I think) set font size with the label options in the file linked above, which should do the trick?

Update!

I linked to the thread instead of the post above.

The labels you want --- that ALL we VR users want --- are given in THIS post:

https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3163055&postcount=12

This is damn near perfect to make up for visibility without being in your face immersion-breaking text flying at 20K feet at Mach 2. In fact, you will not know you are using labels at all: just little grey dots that emerge from the distance until the object is close enough to take on multipixel geometry (whereupon the grey dot goes away quietly and seamlessly).

Kudos to VampireNZ. I would up-rep him if I could!
