Yurgon Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 not getting any explosions from these, just like.....paint or sand splats on the ground, any ideas guys? Yes. Anyone of us could spend between 5 minutes and several hours trying to figure this thing out for you. Or you could at the very least post a track and give us some additional information, like which DCS version you run. Maybe this is a well known problem, or maybe you're the only one experiencing it. Maybe it's a bug in DCS, or a problem with a very specific graphics card driver version, or maybe it's working exactly as advertised and you're simply using the weapons the wrong way. The thing about community forums is that you should help us help you. What kind of response do you expect when you give us practically nothing to work with?
thrustvector Posted February 2, 2018 Author Posted February 2, 2018 wow, calm down, again its a 2.5 thread, and a simple question, while they do explode, they just look like a sand splat, ill add a pic when I get back, 1
Yurgon Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 wow, calm down, again its a 2.5 thread, and a simple question, while they do explode, they just look like a sand splat, ill add a pic when I get back, For me, the forum path reads: ED Forums » English » Digital Combat Simulator » DCS World 1.5 & 2.5 Open Beta » Release Version Bugs and Problems » cbu87/97 not exploding Unless this post was moved by a moderator, it's semi unclear which version you were referring to. Well, actually, the release version right now is 1.5.8, while 2.5 is only available in the OpenBeta. Effectively, you're saying you refer to 2.5 while posting in the 1.5 section. Since 1.5 and 2.5 couldn't be more different, it's really, really hard to figure out what your problem might be, if we can't even say for sure which version you refer to. Screenshots would certainly help, and so would a track. Ultimately, when you request help or report a problem, put yourself in the position of the rest of the world: Since we don't know what problem you have, which version you run, which mission it happens in, which buttons on which input device you press in which order, you have to give us all this vital information, or else we might talk about entirely different things, and basically waste each other's time.

Piroflip Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 (edited) Ok so, I just ran a test mission with the CBU 97 in 2.5 on Caucasus map and it seems to be working fine. I was able to use standard HOF (1800) setting and release at an altitude of about 6k. Using CCRP I deployed a single bomb against a group of 6 BTRs. I used the weapon camera to watch the weapon deploy and I saw the individual munitions striking and destroying at least three of the targets. I did observe some kind of sand or dust effect. No idea what that is supposed to be. Maybe part of the new explosion effects they've implemented? Hope this helps. Ok wait. Just watched it again and I think I know what the dust effect is. The sub-munitions that don't lock on and actually fire at a target are striking the ground and creating a kind of mini-explosion. You can see this for your self if you watch the bomb track camera and follow the whole sequence... Thanks for taking the time to test this! What you observed seems perfectly in line with how the CBU-97 works. Maybe OP just wasn't aware how the BLU-108 submunitions (or rather, their skeets) are supposed to self-destruct if they don't find a valid target? 1
Piroflip Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 (edited) If I can add something... I was actually looking at this thread because I was playing around w/ the CBU and wondering what the dust effect was too. So, just happened to be at the right place at the right time. Also.... The sub-munitions are supposed to self-destruct if they don't fire on a locked target. The idea is to keep from littering the landscape with un-exploded munitions. So, that again explains the secondary explosions on the ground kicking up dust and what-not. The CBU is an awesome weapon!... Glad I could help!
