RastaPutin Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 Would like to hear others experience on this . I run 16 gig Ram On start up of 2.5 .. it shows about 8-10 gig used. There after it creeps up to the full 16 gig ..at which point , the sim becomes problematic! I cant be sure as I dint have access to the code , but I suspect either a simple memory leak or more likely good memory release is not happening somewhere in the code. Possibly even one of the 3rd party modules .. like the viggen that uses 'radar' ( something that does cause frame rate/lagg issues ) . Anyway if you could write your installed ram ... and your start ram usage and maybe what it rises too that might be helpful in finding some solution. ?

KungFu Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 My buddy with 12GB when connecting to a multiplayer session hosted on my rig said it crashed due to running out of memory. He is running Win 7 and had to add a swap file (he's always ran without one) in order to connect. Even then, it was choppy for him. I looked at my RAM usage when hosting and being in the cockpit of the huey, DCS was only using ~3.5GB RAM and was smooth as silk at 150fps steady. (Yes my OS is 64bit) From what people are saying, I should be using a hell of alot more than that. My specs are below. I get around 150fps with 8x MSAA and 16x AF. Trees and Ground clutter at 100% Wonder if VRAM is playing a role here, maybe objects being place in RAM when VRAM is fully used? He as a 980TI with 4GB. Because I seem to be using a heck of less of RAM with 11GB VRAM Win 10 Prof 64bit i7-8770k @4.8GHz, 32GB GSkill RAM, 1 x 250, 1 x 500 GB Samsung PCIe NVMe m.2 drives, ASUS ROG 1080Ti 11GB, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS, TFRP pedals, 3DConnexion spacemouse, Trackir 5 Win 11 Professional, I9-14700K, 64GB DDR5, 4090, 2x 980 PRO PCIe 4.0 NVMe , 2x VKB Gunfighter mk III, MCG Ultimate, SCG, Orion 2 Throttle, Thrustmaster TPR pedals, Pimax Crystal
MurderOne Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 I too am topping out memory usage around 3.5g, and my system is not a powerplant by any means. 24gb ram, rx 470 and ryzen5 Sorry, no cool signature here.
BitMaster Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 Mx system in rig has taken up to 22GB when flying online, standard before this latest patch(hotfix) was about 17GB online, pretty constant. Offline is a lot less but I rarely fly SP and dopnt pay attention to the RAM usage there. and yes, I also run 11GB VRAM and 32GB swap. RastaPutin Posted February 8, 2018 Author Posted February 8, 2018 Read the patch note ! ED is aware and on the hunt, PATIENCE :book: Lol I have been patient since before Ed was Ed and flanker was just a freebie 3-1/2 inch floppy on a gaming magazine ... very patient waiting for Ed to do the things he still has never done ... I have lost all my hair and am on 500 mg of Valium per flight waiting patiently. Would be nice one day for Ed to deliver on time. ... but I'm not going to hold my breath ... :pilotfly:
exil Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 What i recognized yesturday while flying MP was that my GPU Ram in my 1080 was fully used (8GB) while the GPU was used at around 60%. Don't know if someone else observes this odd behaviour? Don't know if someone else observes this odd behaviour? This is not odd. Increasing textures quality and such things will fill up the memory without increasing operations complexity. However, by filling GPU memory you could induce performance hit due to the need to transfert data from RAM to VRAM and vice versa, which is slower.
toilet2000 Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 I got up to 23GB of VRAM usage using the in-game tool... There's definitely something wrong with VRAM usage too.
