tempemonkey Posted February 11, 2018 Posted February 11, 2018 I have noticed several times now that I get blown up by a missile with no warning. As far as I can tell I have the SPO on and fully functional. Could it be that the enemy is using IR? Or is there something else I am missing?
razo+r Posted February 11, 2018 Posted February 11, 2018 Uh, there's always the possiblity that it was an IR missile. Against what aircraft/SAM are you flying? Flying in mp or sp?
Nosferatuwhisky 1-1 Posted February 11, 2018 Posted February 11, 2018 Yeah, zero warning about IR missile lock or incoming. "Chops"

The SPO-10 only covers about +/- 45 degrees horizontally (fixed to aircraft roll axis), you can correct me with the exact numbers. So if the lock is coming from either below or above that it won't be indicated. So when breaking away or in a hard turn, it can be easy to not trigger the SPO-10. Is this a possibility? DCS: MiG-23 [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC] Make it happen, and take my money! :D
Gearbox Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 Save the track and watch afterwards to figure out what happened?

Absolutely the whole sphere is not covered. It's pretty clear to see for a hard lock from a radar and rolling or maneuvering the SPO will go silent for blind spot.
