I was told to redirect my problems from the PC Hardware section to here. I suspect that my hard drive was at fault for all my crashes, but somebody says the hard drive doesn't cause DCS to crash, so I don't know.

CPU: AMD FX-8300 Eight-Core Processor

GPU: Radeon RX 470

RAM: 16GB DDR3

Storage: Toshiba DT01ACA100 HDD

Hard drive specs...

Capacity: 1 TB

Rotational Speed: 7200 rpm

Cache: 32 MB

Interface: SATA 6.0 Gb/s

Single Track Seek Time (Read): 0.6 ms

Single Track Seek Time (Write): 0.8 ms

The crashes are so often, even in singleplayer, that I am lucky to even get 15 minutes of play in before DCS crashes. It's ridiculous.

Hi

Try removing all unofficial modifications ( if any )

and run a cleanup and repair.

it may help

Thanks. I run a lot of mods (mainly sounds), so I'll remove them and try a repair. I'll do my best to get back here if it works or not.

2.5 just keeps bringing on more and more frustration............

I ran a repair (then updated my Radeon driver and Java). I can't even open DCS. Or run another repair.

I actually looked around a bit and found this: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2603611. One guy said he had a power outage. As it happens, this occurred to me as well. Earlier (before repairing DCS) my house had a quick split-second outage. If this information helps at all...

Just as coff says here
You have actually caught me in the middle here. I have since fixed the problem. My autoupdate.cfg displayed "NULL" 391 times on line 1. I asked a buddy to send me his, and I replaced my corrupted with the replacement. Things are back up and running. I wasn't planning on coming back here until I confirmed that repairing DCS has fixed my crashes. I had just opened DCS when my phone lit up. I'll come back when I have answers if the repair worked or not.

I did a simple mission, took a P-51 off from Batumi and flew for maybe half an hour. No problems.

I then did the Instant Action Ground Attack for the Mustang. Shortly after I got hit, I snapped my head left and right quickly to view the damage, and if I was still getting shot at. Upon trying to look left, the screen froze, and I was presented with the generic DCS screen, the largely black image with the DCS logo in the center. Meanwhile my sound resumed (when my DCS crashes, the sound will continue like I'm still playing. For example, if I press ESC, the sound will stop and my mouse cursor will appear). I have to use the LSHIFT+R mission restart key to kill DCS, whereupon the sound will stop and I am presented with the standard blue window that tells me "Unfortunately, DCS has crashed" and so forth. It appears to me that DCS crashes when it is stressed.

The log:

I should have stated in the OP that I have similar problems with IL-2 Sturmovik BoS. I suspect the problems are related, because IL-2 crashes when also stressed (again, usually snapping my head to the side during action, though sometimes it is random). Also, I looks like it's an error relating to DirectX. Inside the log, it appears that I might have a similar problem with DCS and DirectX. But I'm not a tech jock in the least, so I'm not sure.

This is a picture of the error message IL-2 gave me after the crash.

Hi Magic Zach

I would start by removing all unofficial modifications.

Your log still shows some sound errors associated with mods, once you have a clean install it maybe less unstable.

However, ED are currently fixing some memory issues in the open beta also which my be contributing to your situation.

if more than one FlightSim moves your head to the same direction followed by a crash or freeze or blockade of the sim, I would recommend inspecting your controls, to be precise, the one knob that controls your views.

You could fly with keyboard and mouse for a test run and see if that eliminates the cause, or a 2nd set of joystick, just a basic test to see if it goes away once your current controls are disconnected.

10min and you are 1 step further in trying to lock it down ;)

The engine sounds for the P-51 are gone, repair is absolutely broken because it won't fill it in...so much BS...

Is there some way I can reinstall DCS without it downloading 70GB? Like, somehow have it copy the files from the broken 2.5 I currently have instead of downloading it and consuming my data. And download the missing files and/or the foobarred ones? This is getting exhausting and ridiculous...

I need a big reset.

Have you done a cleanup and then a repair ( guide in signature )

if you do this there should be no need to reinstall

The risk you take when installing unofficial mods, if it was me I would wipe the whole lot and start again.

Guys, can you check if you have the same problems as me?

Sometimes, during flight, in some areas there're no land textures - just buildings and water are appearing.

My main base is Kobuleti.

When I do the same mission but starting from Guaduta everythings is fine but at the moment when I'm over Senaki, Batumi, Kobuleti, there's no trees, sometimes is also the same problem with building and water.

What's more...

When I'm taking off from Kobuleti, I can land there without any problems.

Taking off from Gudauta make that every time when I'm approaching or just landed, there's a game crash. It doesn't matter who is landing and what a kind camera I use ( F1, F2, F3 ).

Hi!

I have returned, and with a clean DCS. I reinstalled, but copied Bazar, CoreMods and Mods from my broken 2.5OB to my new OB. I did, because I was not up for sucking up data, and it saved me from downloading 89GB. All sounds are back, and all mods are disabled. It's clean! :)

Of course, and as I did expect, I still get crashes. I had got onto an empty server (Aerobatics Online during the weekdays...) and jumped into a KA-50. I was landing, and as I got close to the ground there was the dust effect around me. I popped into the external (F2) view right in the middle of this and...my screen froze, then displayed the black screen with the logo. Couldn't use LSHIFT+R, so I hit ESC and clicked rapidly while moving my mouse upwards from the middle-bottom of the screen, to hit the "Quit To Desktop" button that I couldn't see. I was displayed the blue "Unfortunately..." pop-up and I let it do its thing.

Most of the time, the crashes occur when DCS is getting a little stressed (dust effects while landing, explosions), but there have been occasions in the past where it crashes seemingly at random, with no stress. Or that's how it seems.

Here's the log for you to shuffle through :helpsmilie: :

Could it be DirectX related? Looking at the .crash in the log, and my past crash messages from IL-2, it makes me wonder...

As has been said repeatedly in this forum, there's a major memory bug issue at the moment. Not a lot else you can do right now.....

ED are working on it but it is a complicated issue that needs time to fix.

Please bare in mind this is a beta build for public testing.

Improvements will be seen in future patches, but I can not give an ETA at the moment.

thanks

I'm not sure if it's really the memory leak. As I have already said, I have had problems with IL-2. My crashes were the same with DCS 2.2. So, I'm not convinced my problem is the memory leak.

Test your rig for stability with a few from the programs mentioned above.

If it crashes while doing those tests you likely hve a hardware issue under load.

Measure your system with HWinfo, temp, watt, usage, etc..

You can redownload only the basic 2.5 Caucasus with the free airplanes and try that.

Taking most from the old install is anything but a clean install, it's more or less wasted time

if you try to be empiric in troubleshooting. That was not helpful and maybe the reason for no response yet. They told you and you did not follow. Heck, what else shall they say ?
