Haukka81 Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Finally design that may be simple enough for mainstream users :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Oculus CV1, Odyssey, Pimax 5k+ (i5 8400, 24gb ddr4 3000mhz, 1080Ti OC ) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
hannibal Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 yes, compact.. doesnt require 6+ power supplies and a reactor to power. find me on steam! username: Hannibal_A101A http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197969447179
Fopeyducker Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Not sure how you would mount decent sim hardware like a HOTAS, or what would happen to the wires if this is capable of spinning 360 degs, maybe you can restrict its movement? Fun toy, not sure how much use it be for DCS but it's good that somebody is making it. Maybe something 2 or 3 times the size further down the line that you can sit in properly with mounts for seats and pedals etc. :joystick: I'm sure there are plenty of people here and on the various racing forums that would jump at something like that with a price tag of a couple of grand. Next level up again would be something fully enclosed with a proper seat and harness that could go inverted :pilotfly: :) --------------- MSI GD65 Gaming | i7 4770k Haswell @ 4.7ghz, | H110 water cooler | 32Gb ddr3 | Sound Blaster Zx | MSI GTX 1080Ti | 1x 250Gb SSD's + 2x 500Gb SSD | Acer Predator 34" (3440x1440) | TrackiR 5 + UTC Light | Win 10 Pro 64bit | 2x Thrustmaster MFD's | MFG Crosswinds (ordered) | Thrustmaster Warthog :smartass: --------------------
Dav IRL Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 What we need is a quality chair product with mounts, ready to go, out of the box. 4.8 I7, 1080, TMW&T, SSD, VKB MK.IV.
Abburo Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Does it have a soap and shampoo support? Filled with water would be a perfect bathtub :D Joking of course, but is not something I would use at home. There is something not seen in the movie and I wondering about the response time. Having a general small size I think the motors are not powerful enough to really synchronize well the image with motion. Nice for kids and VR roller coaster though. Nice for kids and VR roller coaster though. if you want you can use it as an expensive tub after flying im sure  but the soap you'll have to provide.. other videos show it being used in a space sim and racing so response is probably pretty good... motors as well seem to do enough for someone up to 400+ pounds.. so unless your pushing max weight i think it will do fine.. again just like the Gen .5 VR headsets not perfect but the 1st decent step at making it mainstream... :pilotfly: Rift CV1: i-7 8700 RTX 2070 16GB 3200mhz win10. Thick8 Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 Just can’t see that having the power and fidelity needed for a flight chair. The video with the LARGE guy shows how the seat went into an un-commanded roll a couple of times when the guy leaned a little bit. All they did with him in it was yaw maneuvers. Plus there is no mechanical attachment between the seat and lower unit. If the balls or wheels that are used to move the seat have any slippage (which they will) then you will loose centering. The chair I am currently building has 2 24v 20a 28:1 dc motors on it. That’s almost a thousand watts nominal with double that under initial and braking movement loads. And I’m bummed that I can’t have more than a 40 degree total roll or pitch because I would need stronger motors. The good new is you can build a motion platform for well under a grand, and the software to run it is free. dmwierz Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 Bye bye head tracking That's the first thing I wondered about myself. With you spinning around in your gyrating salad bowl , what are you seeing in your HMD? i9-9900K @5.1Ghz w/ 32GB RAM, RTX2080 Super w/ 8G, Samsung Odyssey VR HMD, 1 TB SSD, VKB Gladiator MKII, TM TWCS throttle, Saitek Pro Yoke, Saitek Throttle Quadrant x2, CH Pro Pedals, Obutto Ozone
hannibal Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 im not a big person, so i can fit in the bowl. also, you wouldnt turn 360 if your in a vive or rift, you would have to limit the yaw function. but if you want to choke yourself, thats on you not to have common sense. find me on steam! username: Hannibal_A101A http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197969447179
frogger Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 nice idea but i cant see the small rollers handling a sudden change in direction with a 90kg pilot. i personally think for VR a G seat is the best option. prolonged turns are simulated with pressure rather then spinning on the spot or turning to a point then stopping.
hannibal Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 how much is a G seat? find me on steam! username: Hannibal_A101A http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197969447179
frogger Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 i dont think there are any on the market yet. only diy. but id expect to pay 800+ for one.
TomOnSteam Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 Great Ideal using rollers imo. What this needs is to be about 40% bigger, and a full bubble that can fit a full hotas and rudder pedals, and so that it can spin a full 360 on all x/y/z axis lol --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cockpit Spectator Mode
