VMFA-Blaze Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 I've been waiting for these custom laser plates for a very long time ..Well they finally arrived in the mail today from Belgium ..... I really had to share this with everyone.. Although I really couldn't get a clear enough shot to really do them justice, I think that you get the idea... I'm thinking that I might have to get a camera with higher Mega Pixels, or it could be the lighting.. ~S~ Blaze intel Cor i7-6700K ASUS ROG MAX VIII Extreme G.Skill TridentZ Series 32 GB Samsung 850 Pro 1TB SATA II ASUS GTX 1080/DIRECTX 12 Windows 10 PRO Thrustmaster Warthog Oculus Rift VR
Prophet Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 Where did you get them from, I will need a set once my sensors get here. Got the NXT sitting on my desk tho. P.S. Megapixel only effects the size of the picture, and correspondingly the image quality if you zoom in. A 4M pixel camera is good for an 8x11 picture IIRC.

thereminqblank Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 Where do you guys get mods for the cougar? And how much do they cost? I'm thinking about upgrading to either the cougar or CH combo. From what I can gather, the CH stuff works really well right out of the box, and the cougar looks great but needs expensive modding to work well. Prophet Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 Thats pretty much it. If you dont have the $, but want a better stick than the X45/X52, then go CH. If my wife knew how much I spen on the NXT/Hall sensors, she would probably beat me with the broom. P.S. thanks for the link Blaze
thereminqblank Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 lol....would you mind telling me how much? or does your wife read these forums?? :) I'm pretty lucky, I'm not married to my other half, so I just receive disapproving looks when I spend too much money.... no broom beatings as yet! Good morning ... I just woke up and its a cold and cloudy day here in NY.. Ok ... First off the Cougar doesn't actually have to be modded.. Mine is 4 years old and I just modded it last year.. If your flying boom and zoom then you really don't need to mod the stick but if you like A2G or guns guns guns then the mod will give you extreme precision... But the mods are expensive.. IJ's NXT is about 300.00 USD or if you want the flyXwire mod "FCC" is about 330.00.. and plus the cost of the Cougar which is 250.00 and the Hall senor Kit for the throttle is 75.00 USD.. ~S~ Blaze intel Cor i7-6700K ASUS ROG MAX VIII Extreme G.Skill TridentZ Series 32 GB Samsung 850 Pro 1TB SATA II ASUS GTX 1080/DIRECTX 12 Windows 10 PRO Thrustmaster Warthog Oculus Rift VR
thereminqblank Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 Hey Blaze. It's a little cold and rainy here in London, has been all week!! Thanks for the figures. Yikes!! Everyone keeps saying how expensive it is to mod the Cougar, but I never thought it would be that expensive! I might have to go with the CH fighterstick. I'm actually planning on going to New York in September, and I notice that the CH stuff costs HALF THE PRICE than in the US than it does in the UK. So I may just wait to pick up a set then :) "Unholy Roller" [sIGPIC]http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/images/userbars/A-10C_UserBar_01.gif[/sIGPIC]
LawnDart Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 My two kitties! :joystick: Love 'em both... but together, they've cost more than $1,000 in mods alone! NXT with Hall Sensors, metal Speedbrake & Dogfight switch casings... FSSB (R2 - exchanged since I had the plate engraved with R1), also with metal casings... So I may just wait to pick up a set then :) Half?! you lucky SOB... it would cost me 200 per piece here, thats right, the full 600 Euros for the 3 part setup, pedals throttle and stick. I might as well buy the cougar and the MOD (about 280Euros for the Original cougar). FOrtunatly My brother has the CH setup wich he bought in the US, I could try it myself but not use it on a regular basis. I preffer use the X52, if I eveer need a realistic setup I might as well get the cougar + MOD due to the costs I showed above. .
Storm.i Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 Luckily I picked the X-52, reasonable and a lot less expensive

You know Simware has the CH fighterstick and pro throttle as a package for 305 euros? surely you can get it shipped to your location? I have the X-52, but I really think that it's not as accurate as it could be. So I have been looking at other options! suntrace1 Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 Pixmania has Cougars for 185€, the lowest price I could find in EU.
LawnDart Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 G Great ... How's the FFB ???? ~S~ Blaze Great! If I had to pick, I'd go with the FSSB... but both the NXT and FSSB are awesome! The FSSB is virtually mx free. Has no moving parts and if you've got a home built pit that you can mount it in, you can set the pressure to 25 lbs in the y-axis and 17 lbs in the x-axis, just like the real Viper. It's also very precise, as you can see from the screenshot of the analyzer here. VMFA-Blaze Posted March 5, 2007 Author Posted March 5, 2007 Nice.. I have been thinking about getting another Cougar.. mjolner Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 The cougar mods are really nice, particularly the installation of hall sensors. I myself have used an off-the-shelf cougar for about 4 years now and other than some minor pot cleaning it has worked like a charm. The negligible center play makess no difference in flying performance. Either that or I just suck and dont know it.
