hmm I think your a bit confused, you know whats being grounded?

It means if you get any electric buildup it will be immidiatly be charged into the ground i.e. current will be there. It garauntees your neutral by not accumulating any static but it becomes deadly if the discharge is big from an external source. Its waht hapens when you become prone to be struck by a lightning.

It works slitghly differet in midair because-- and Im not expert at it but bear with me-- the wings themselves work as dischargers when there is air flow on them (look at the spikes at the tips, they work only with fast airflow) so the lightning is channeled to them progressively (an spiky tip discharges much slower than a direct contact or a blunt object) into the air away from vital systems...(most of the times), plus a lightning often divides and distributes discharge loads in serveral arches, and on the ground you often discharge everything in one go through a small area causing massive damage.

(most of the times)

this is the key word here... there is absolutely NO way of being 100% safe from lightning

After his death he has become a legend. I am sure that those who admired him set themselves a goal to bury all of his imperfections. On the other hand there were those who have done the exact opposite, often exaggerating the existing flaws and adding to them with lies to eradicate his presence in the science community.

A legend where? Heck he has all but been erased from history, at least in the US, which was the ones that really did him in.

When I was in High School, there was a small mention of him. But they went on, and on about Edison.

Tesla is a genius, and should be given great respect and honor for what he has done for the world.

Sure, someone else may have discovered the things that he did, but he made many discoveries. Somethings he discovered, they refuse to admit. Colorado Springs is a good example. That tower was a big capacitor, stored lots of energy in the ground, they told him to shut down and he said it would take a while, they unplugged him. The tower discharged..... and coincidently a meteor landed in siberia leaving no fragments......... right.

Bah anyways, I am a greatly admire Tesla, it is from reading books about him my senior year in high school that got me interested in electronics, and what led me to get the job I have.

The stories that circle around can't be confirmed, at least not yet, and that makes him a legend.

So what, Star Trek was ahead of its time too, so what? We have communicators and hyposprays now, teleportation (I know, not a true transporter, and not a cheap trick to not have to do shuttle scenes) is being worked on, PDAs, and some other minor technologies (flat screens).

Same with Nicola Tesla, UFOs and the Tunguska explosion, we will know, but not in our lifetime, so be either a UFO-geek or accept that you're not allowed to know certain things.

The only difference is he didn't just have nice ideas for some new "stuff". He also wrote down for us how to make them. And it's not that he was ahead of HIS time... he is still ahead of OUR time as we are yet to make out how to put some of his stuff to work.

I know I smell patriotism in here, but heck, I can handle bad smells (even though I hate them ;)). But I suppose you're right, if his research is still classified, then it gotta be some good stuff. Only thing I know about Tesla is that he made that wireless power transfer mast, nothing more. Never knew about the relation to the Tunguaska incident, but heck, even if extraterrestial life is being covered up, I don't much care, as it's not my concern.

What I do hate is that current physics are regarded as 'the way it is', didn't we learn from the past, or is this some self-confident arrogance emerging from the scientific community? True we understand more than we did 200 years ago, but it's silly to think that is the way it is, and if we can't measure it it doesn't exist.

Nice thread, keep up the good, polite, interesting threads. :)

One of the interesting things about that incidend is the fact that the trees in the center of the explosion weren't facing outwards but inwards, completely opposite of the way they should have been. :music_whistling:

I've seen a finite lement simulation of such an impact and the center of the object that hit the atmosphere gets burnt first at the center efectively turning into a drilled spherecial object at the middle just before it blows. In such case inter crossed shock waves may exist. Throw 2 rocks at the same time to a pond and objerve the summ of the 2 waves interfereing with each other.

Also its is often that Icy objects divide into more than one chunk as they aproach a gravitational field, the Levi-Shewmaker impact on Saturn in 1994 was a cute example of that, though the object was much greater and divided into no less than 25 parts, each capable of obliterating all life at the earths surface.

He, he, he … Nikola Tesla (among hundreds of other patents) invented one of the simplest and most efficient machine (device) in human history. I’ll let you guess what machine that is.

Patriotism has got nothing to do with it :) Just the facts that 90% of things in your house that have something to do with electricity have one or more of his patents inside :)

You have that from one of the many UFO-books, right ?

None of the more reliable scientific sources / reports says anything about an opposite direction of the fallen trees...

There were some expeditions in 1927 (Kulik), Kasanzew (1945), Krinov (1966) and some others - no-one reported about about trees which had fallen inwards. In fact, at ground zero, trees were found standing upright, but burned whereas trees between the epicenter and up to 25 km were flattened.

But at least here this thread is 100% OT.

kind regards,

Raven....

No, it isn't... while it is clear that Tesla, if he lived a few more years(..or decades) would find a way to control such lightnings as a weapon for defense of small and weak... the real question we must now discus is: would it have a datalink :megalol:
