OzDeaDMeaT Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 Hi guys, Long time reader, only posted a few times. I am having difficulty loading a fresh install of DCS into VR mode. For some reason the game continually loads into the standard menu except it is truncated to a more rift like aspect ratio. This is a fresh install of DCS, I have loaded the game into engine once as I thought it might be a shaders issue but apparently not. Oculus works fine on the demo stuff so it seems to be an issue just with DCS. I have tried the force VR commandline dcs.exe and the same non-Hangar menu is presented to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. -OzDM OuT CPU: i9-12900K @ 4.9Ghz M/B: MSI MEG z690 Ace RAM: 128GB Video Card: MSI RTX 4090 Suprim Liquid X VR: Varjo Aero

OzDeaDMeaT Posted March 30, 2018 Author Posted March 30, 2018 Hi, I see a white screen and a message saying that DCS is taking a long time to load. I then hear the music and look through the side of the oculus to see a standard menu. CPU: i9-12900K @ 4.9Ghz M/B: MSI MEG z690 Ace RAM: 128GB Video Card: MSI RTX 4090 Suprim Liquid X VR: Varjo Aero

OzDeaDMeaT Posted April 2, 2018 Author Posted April 2, 2018 It is enabled. It's more like the fresh install isn't even loading the VR version of the game. CPU: i9-12900K @ 4.9Ghz M/B: MSI MEG z690 Ace RAM: 128GB Video Card: MSI RTX 4090 Suprim Liquid X VR: Varjo Aero
OzDeaDMeaT Posted April 2, 2018 Author Posted April 2, 2018 OK, found out something interesting. When I unplug my Oculus and load the game it loads the 3D hanger but ofcourse it doesnt load into the oculus. When I have the Oculus plugged in, it doesn't load the 3D hanger menu and loads the standard version of the game. OzDeaDMeaT Posted April 2, 2018 Author Posted April 2, 2018 As far as I can tell, I have a configuration perfect Storm. Nothing I do seems to work getting this to work. Might see if I can borrow a mates Vive, if that works I will just throw this Piece of Shit away. RePhil Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 this how i doe it I start Oculus in admin mode when you see the home screen in head set, place headset on desk looking at screen, start DCS in admin when its fully loaded I then hit left alt enter so I get full screen then place on head set and start flying. If this is of no use I tried and hope you get it sorted [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Window 10, i9-9900,2080TI, 32GB ram Puma Pro Flight Trainer, 2 x 1TB WB SSD NVMe HP Reverb
dburne Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 (edited) Something is definitely amiss there, the Rift should definitely work fine with DCS. I have been running it on my Rift for well over a year now and it launches fine every time. First, do not try to launch DCS from within the Oculus Software where it adds a shortcut for DCS, that shortcut link is typically broken as Oculus Software does not seem to recognize the appropriate link for launching DCS. Whenever I tried launching from within Oculus software it would just load up a hanger with no menu options. As long as you have VR checked in the game GUI, it should launch right into VR mode. Are you by chance running the Steam version of DCS? You might also try the DCS Updater Utility by SkateZilla. It includes an option to launch DCS in 2d mode, or VR mode. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=160053 You might give this utility a try launching in VR Mode and see if it makes any difference. Also be sure and assign a button on your stick for VR- Center ( it is down in the UI Layer of controller gui), when it first loads up it may not be centered at all and out of whack, press this button to center the view on the hangar and menu. OzDeaDMeaT Posted April 3, 2018 Author Posted April 3, 2018 !!SOLVED!! Righto, after a peer review and an entire day of trouble shooting. I removed the second video card and everything came up 100%. I wasn't satisfied that I would essentially have a Titan sitting in a box beside the computer I tried to work out what the issue was further. It seems that all I needed was a second HDMI port on card 1. My Titan X Pascal only has 1 HDMI port so after a quick visit to OfficeWorks to buy a passive adapter from DisplayPort 1.2 to HDMI 2.0 it all came up good, even with SLI enabled now. I think the issue was that I was trying to use the second cards HDMI port and that may have had some strange memory sharing or something going on. This was trouble shot after a complete windows rebuild and after having the same symptoms I had to know why it was ONLY DCS that wasn't working in VR. Although I didn't get to the root cause, I hope this helps someone in the future troubleshoot VR issues with there rig. Thank you all for your help.
