You wanna do the walk around to and kick the tires?

Yes!

Sort of the real reason not to do this is because the cockpit model would have to include the stuff you see from outside the plane or somehow transition between the external model and the cockpit model.

But it's still a cool thing. I remember the MSFS sim that had the ability to get out, walk around, and get back in. It was fun.

Taken to ridiculous extremes you could take a helicopter ride to an airbase, walk into a briefing building with other pilots for brief, and run out of the room on scramble alert and hop in a plane. That's practically ArmA-levels of out-of-cockpitness which may be wildly impractical, but it would be really cool.

It'll probably be difficult if not impossible to implement but I'd love to see a feature like this.

Maybe it doesn't even have to be animated. "Press E to enter" and your character is removed and you switch to the plane.

That still doesn't work around the fact that aircraft are bound to specific slots. But who knows.

Does ED have motion capture tech? Just wondering.

You can do this in VR in X-Plane, walk around the plane and do the outside check

X-Plane 11.5x / DCS 2.5.6 / P3Dv5 / Aerofly FS 2 / War Thunder

I'd like to see this added ONLY if we can have an Air Boss slot for multiplayer than can ground players that don't fly correctly. :)

I don't see why perhaps later (When CA is way more fleshed out and realized) you could walk up in VR, think

to any aircraft on the pad and bring up the ordnance menu, same as in MP now and select the loadout, then jump in and fly. OF course this is all icing on the cake stuff that would be nice one day.

Be great to sit in the ready room of the carrier in VR watching a mission briefing then walk up and jump in the jet.
