SoryuDragon Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 Now that I purchased the F-18 for the DCS Standalone, 2 days later it's on Steam?? Can I transfer my F-18 my Steam account? I don't want to have to buy it again. I transferred my F-15C and SU-27 to DCS Standalone, surely I can transfer back to Steam. Is there a CDKey I can redeem on Steam? iKyrThraad993i Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 The reason you don't have the F-18C currently is because your DCS World is probably the DCS World 2.5 Stable instead of open beta. If you look on the forums here there are instructions how to switch to Open Beta they are Skatezilla tips and tricks. This will let you download the F-18C since its only available in Open Beta Right now.

Because I bought it in Open Beta can I redeem a code to get it in Steam? And it's in Steam right now, not just Open Beta. iKyrThraad993i Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 (edited) As stated on the ED Shop DCS F/A-18C is not compatible with steam under the price and bonus is states " STEAM Incompatible" This means that your key will not work with STEAM. Personally I would rather have DCS World Standalone because you have a chance of getting Updates and modules first before the steam edition. Any reason for wanting to go with STEAM edition over standalone? Hope this help Edited June 2, 2018 by iKyrThraad993i

Any reason for wanting to go with STEAM edition over standalone? Hope this help Oh for sure, I like to have all my games in one place. Not to mention I have my Vive on Steam (Have to admit I have not yet tried Vive of DCS World Open Beta) Oh and my only other buddy to fly with is on Steam. And he's extremely frugal. So trying to convince him to buy the F-18 will be a challenge. DarksydeRob Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 You could never transfer standalone to steam I dont think. Only Pre-Mirage Steam release steam keys can be put over to standalone. It’s not a hard deal to use standalone, if you want the overlay just put it as a none steam game. In the past steam version was worse due to performance issues it had for some reason, I still recommend to anyone to switch to standalone if they haven’t got much on steam or have Pre-Mirage Steam keys.

Thnx for the advice folks. I'd really like an official DE quote saying Yes or No. When I'm off shift, I'll have to get my Warthog HOTAS/Sietek Peddles and Vive setup and try on Standalone. I'm looking Fwd to the F/A-18C. I'd like to get my old Sqn colours on it and fly. CF188 441TFS, Checker Checker!!! Crash12052 Posted August 2, 2018 Posted August 2, 2018 Steam version runs more stable. That being said, u do have to wait longer for updates and modules to come out but it's worth it too me. Lot less crashes and bugs in the steam version. Plus steam sales! Steam sales usually put 20% off sumtimes more on dcs modules. That alone makes the steam version worth using to me.
ED Team c0ff Posted August 2, 2018 ED Team Posted August 2, 2018 Lot less crashes and bugs in the steam version. Placebo effect. Steam version is exactly the same files as the standalone. Dmitry S. That doesn't make any sense as the files and the game are exactly the same and you seem to have missed ED's summer sale with 50% off of most modules. I really don't see any benefits in using the Steam version, except for the connection with your Steam-Friends. 1) Asus ROG Strix Z690-A Gaming Wifi D4 / i9 13900K @ 5,5 Ghz / Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 128 GB DDR4 RAM @ 3200 Mhz / Asus ROG Strix RTX 4090 / 2 x 4 TB SSD Samsung 870 Evo / 2 x 1 TB M.2 SSD Samsung 980 Pro / Meta Quest Pro 2) Asus ROG Strix Z490-E Gaming / i9 10900K @ 4,9 Ghz / Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 64 GB DDR4 RAM @ 3200 Mhz / Asus ROG Strix RTX 3090 / 1 TB SSD Samsung 870 Evo / 500 GB M.2 SSD Samsung 980 Pro / HP Reverb G2

I really don't see any benefits in using the Steam version, except for the connection with your Steam-Friends. Personally I don't see the point either. Yes there are probably more sale at steam but in my experience the big sales with higher discounts usually happens the same time both here and at steam. I also doubt that the steam version crashes less because I think that is exactly the same version I think (unless you use the beta here while using the stable at steam and sometimes some bug goes into the beta build so it might crashes more) Or you just forget to update your game manually with the standalone after fixes and while that process is done automatically at steam. Its funny... I read the steam forum daily and there some users are sad also that they can't transfer over to standalone. :D FW 190 A-8, FW 190 D-9 Dora, MiG-15bis , Mig-21bis, AJS-37 Viggen , M-2000C, F-15C, F/A-18C, F-14, Supercarrier, NTTR, Normandy+WW2 assets, Combined Arms, Persian Gulf AMD Ryzen 2600x , ASUS Rog Strix B450-F, Corsair H100i, Corsair Vengeance 32GB 3000MHz DDR4, MSI RTX 2070 8G, ASUS Xonar DSX, Samsung EVO 970 SSD , PSU - Corsair RM750, Headtracking - EDtracker Pro Wired, 58" Screen, TM Warthog, Windows 10 64bit Home
Hammer1-1 Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 Heres a good point to go to steam... try paying for these modules with a credit card instead of paypal. Been fighting that for 3 days trying to figure out how to pay for these modules through sagepay before giving up. Took me 5 minutes to buy the modules on steam. With that said, can I port everything I bought off steam to DCS? lol...dont really care either way, just a harangue buying off the DCS website. Skoop Posted October 11, 2018 Posted October 11, 2018 I prefer steam as well. Unfortunately all my modules are standalone. I wish the devs would give me a one time switch to steam like the iL2 BOS devs did, I'd switch to steam in a heartbeat. With the keyless system they went to, I bet linking your account to steam wouldn't be that hard, just a matter of the devs supporting it. Like the op stated I'd like to hear from the devs on switching our standalone accounts to steam. intel i5 3570k @ 4.5 Ghz + Corsair H100 in push-pull / Asus Maximus V Formula mobo / 16Gb Gskill Ripjaw Z ddr3 1600 / evga 690 GTX 4gb / 1 TB WD caviar Black 7200 rpm sata HDD + 80GB Corsair F80 SSD + 2x Corsair 60Gb Force3 SSD / TM Warthog HOTAS-G940 Peddals / Corsair 1200 AX gold PSU / Windows 7 64 bit OS / 27" Qnix 2710 @ 2560 x 1440 120hz PLS Monitor & 23" acer touch screen with Helios/
