Is there currently, or planned to be different Sea States in the game to reflect bad weather and high seas???

There is already. It's called wind. Incease wind and sea state will change. That might sound a little weird at first, but that's how it works in DCS.

DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

Well, realistically, wind and sea state are directly linked. You won't see 25ft waves on a still day. I don't see what's weird about that. Just seems like people know zip about weather is all.

One can see 25 foot waves from a storm that is off in the distance. We have them were I live from storms that aren't actually close by...

But, I did set the wind to 50 knots, 5 feet/second turbulence and got big waves and rocking and rolling ship action! Awesome!!!

I was able to launch and recover from the carrier with a bit more difficulty...

There is a very nice Instant Action mission with the Persion Gulf map were you are tasked to fly the Huey to the Oliver Hazard Perry frigate and land on its deck in stormy weather. It's absolutely stunning and showcases the high sea state beautifully. :)

Since it's pretty much guaranteed there won't be any simulated waves with water physics, but one thing that could directly affect realism of flying is when flying low and maybe getting too close to the waves, water spray from wind, extra humidity getting into the engines, it might be something to think about how it affects jet engines, aerodynamics, if that's not taken into account already in some of the top modules.

Considering Su-33 and aircraft carrier operations are getting the focus, this may not be so unreasonable, while the water and ways would ofcourse stay non-physics, the airplane would behave a bit differently while it's inside of some of the circumstances which are more roughly determined, and that's not that CPU hungry at all.

Otherwise, still many things can be done visually to make it believable from the air and with different weather, with minimal CPU cost.

@mytai

well, that's true, but it was still propagated by wind in the distance :P

I'm from Texas, we only know about water from books and TV. We even have a term, "dry rivers" in the southern most parts, because "Well, water COULD flow through that" :P

Yes, I'm not disputing the need for high wind to make waves...unless you have Earthquakes and Tsunami...;)
