Anyone in Australia know where to purchase this joystick?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking to get a new Thrustmaster Afterburner II Hotas. They use to retail for about 90 bucks at Harvey Norman and you could often get them off the net.

I can't find any, they seem to be discontinued. Has anyone else seen them around recently?

Sven dont bother with that piece of sh33t. I had one, its horrible, if you want cheap stuff of the same class get 1 Cybork EVO from saitek, or even an MS sidwinder. ABII's are realy realy crap. So bad that the pots will robb you off of stick read travel by about 20%, i.e. Youll always be out-turned in tight manuevers. After a while both the throttle and the twist rudder get a mind of their own.

Your a real fighter pilot so dont get caught using that plastic dinky toy, it'l snap right off on your hands one of these days. In the last few months before I stop using it was making noises as if it was breaking nuts inside the base.

My thought exactly :) For a cheaper HOTAS I'd suggest Saitek's X36 USB version (maybe you can find one barely used from the yellow pages) or the latest but more expensive X52 Pro (or the regular one if you can stand its looks; I know I can't).

i386DX40@42 MHz w/i387 CP, 4 MB RAM (8*512 kB), Trident 8900C 1 MB w/16-bit RAMDAC ISA, Quantum 340 MB UDMA33, SB 16, DOS 6.22 w/QEMM + Win3.11CE, Quickshot 1btn 2axis, Numpad as hat. 2 FPH on a good day, 1 FPH avg.

Cheers for the advice but after 4 years of use I've been really happy with my ABII, I definately prefer it to the X52. I downgraded from an early batch cougar.

It's either ABII or I go CH/Cougar in a few weeks.

Just to add to this list I uften use www.staticice.com.au when trying to track down items and good pricing.

Also the Cougar is a very good HOTAS setup - been running mine for just over 12 months unmodded and am very happy with it.

Appreciate this is an old thread, but....

In Australia the Thrustmaster Cougar retails for around $560 - $650 AUD, I've seen second hand ones go for around $300 on Ebay. It is ridiculously expensive.

If you want a new Cougar in Australia, get one from www.provantage.com.

Even with shipping overseas the cost is around $325 AUD. That is a bargain considering I've seen the X52 Pro retailing for $299. Shipping takes about 10 days.

I am no way associated with provantage, it is just the cheapest place I've seen for Aussies to buy Cougars. If you have been thinking about buying a Cougar but haven't because of the cost, this might tip the balance.
