Mule Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 I have the pd set at 70. Anything under this makes the cockpit feel to big. I have never sat in the cockpit so have no idea if this right. Does anyone have anything vastly different? Fighter Pilot Podcast.
Bearfoot Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 If by "PD" you mean pupil distance, then this should be calibrated for your own physical characteristics to get a clear image --- specifically, the structure of your own face and, in particular, the distance between your eyes (pupils, to be precise, as the name suggests). Not sure how (or if) this really equates to perceived cockpit size in any way?

Jabbers_ Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 In the VR tab settings. IPD setting and a number input. Apologies not PD it's IPD. That number is 100% custom for your eyes only. imacken Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 That number is 100% custom for your eyes only. No one is going to be able to tell you what it should be. Don't think that's true in DCS case. Been discussed before. It's more of a world scaling factor than the usual meaning of IPD. rrohde Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 What I try to do with DCS's IPD (which to me is simply another word for 'world scale') is to match my own hands in terms of size closely to that of my virtual pilot's hands. After some testing, I ended up with an IPD of 45; seems believable enough for me. jimiC Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 My feeling is that yes the cockpit feels big In comparison to the mirage which feels small . Kind of annoying when u have to consider different ipds for modules in the same game... I *assume * that 3d models are all made to scale but I could be completely wrong. If they are what is the cause ? The chosen camera point for a centered view ? Sent from my SM-G925I using Tapatalk

Well if thats the case, why is it that everything looks to scale for me, without changing this value? Twitch2DCS - Bring twitch chat into DCS. sea2sky Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 I set this value by comparing my actual TM Warthog stick with the one in the cockpit. i5-9600K@4.8GHz ★ 32Gb DDR4 ★ rtx5070ti ★ Quest Pro ★ Warthog on Virpil base

dburne Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 I never could get that IPD adjustment in DCS to my liking, for me and my eyes it looks best with me not checking to use that adjustment. eaglecash867 Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 An IPD of 70 looks about right for me, but I based that on the measurement I took between my pupils with my digital calipers. Now if we could just get them to fix your default position in the cockpit in the Beta to be a little more like it is in the Stable, it'll be just about perfect. Not sure if anyone else has seen it, but in the Beta your back and head are against the back of the seat like they should be, but the front of the seat and stick in both the A-10C and the F/A-18C are WAY too far out in front of you. The Stable is just about perfect, except for the fact that you seem to be sitting on the front edge of that incredibly deep seat cushion. The distance to the panel is about right though, you shouldn't have to lean forward and stretch to reach your switches and OSBs on the panel. Imagine having to do that when you're in the real thing, pulling Gs. Heh...fixing the caging knob on the standby AI so it operates like it does in the real world would be a good thing too. It says "pull to cage", not "turn to cage". :D OK...I've strayed off topic a little bit, but 70mm IPD works for me. EVGA Z690 Classified, Intel i9 12900KS Alder Lake processor, MSI MAG Core Liquid 360R V2 AIO Liquid CPU Cooler, G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB Series 64GB DDR5 6400 memory, EVGA RTX3090 FTW3 Ultra 24GB video card, Samsung 980PRO 1TB M2.2280 SSD for Windows 10 64-bit OS, Samsung 980PRO 2TB M2.2280 SSD for program files, LG WH14NS40 Blu-Ray burner.
