fitness88 Posted June 28, 2018 Posted June 28, 2018 I've noticed flying the F18, both my Saitek and Thrustmaster single throttle have no response for the first 20% of throttle movement. It stays at 67% for about 20% of the throw. I understand about idle/off so what adjustments do you make to use the entire throw of the throttle? Thank you.
KungFu Posted June 28, 2018 Posted June 28, 2018 85% saturation on Y axis gets rid of the lower deadzone for me. Now how to figure out the curves to lessen the AB zone Win 11 Professional, I9-14700K, 64GB DDR5, 4090, 2x 980 PRO PCIe 4.0 NVMe , 2x VKB Gunfighter mk III, MCG Ultimate, SCG, Orion 2 Throttle, Thrustmaster TPR pedals, Pimax Crystal
Brun Posted June 28, 2018 Posted June 28, 2018 You need to test that on the ground because there's an in-flight idle restriction which confuses things. Despite that I found there's still a ~10% deadzone at the bottom of the throttle travel. I fixed it by modifying my throttle curves in Target rather than DCS. Yeah, it does kinda throw a monkey wrench into it doing it this way. Me and Target do not get along and it's banned from use in my household. :music_whistling: That setting is for WOW for me, although a little bit of throttle with WOW isn't huge because it takes quite a bit more to move even slick f18 Win 11 Professional, I9-14700K, 64GB DDR5, 4090, 2x 980 PRO PCIe 4.0 NVMe , 2x VKB Gunfighter mk III, MCG Ultimate, SCG, Orion 2 Throttle, Thrustmaster TPR pedals, Pimax Crystal
Lenux Posted June 28, 2018 Posted June 28, 2018 I have the same issue as fitness88 I'm using the X56 throttle Could anyone please, help me, how to fix this? russhin Posted June 29, 2018 Posted June 29, 2018 I had the same issue, at first I used "slider" checkbox, and adjusted the dead zone with sliders to a perfect spot (whichever one adjusts the bottom dead zone in the bottom left corner), but then i wanted to make a more precise AB adjustment towards the top of the throttle range for my detent and ended up setting it back to normal with a 83% saturation on each end, i still have that issue with the throttle at the lower power setting, but now the power is at 100rpm, and 102FF before I get over the detent for the AB so it works out okay. I used some strong magnets inside the TWCS throttle to create a detent for the AB. I hope setting it to the slider setting and adjusting the saturation at the top right corner to 83% will help you. Brun Posted June 29, 2018 Posted June 29, 2018 I don't think that other thread is relevant. It's a different issue. Asus Z690 Hero | 12900K | 64GB G.Skill 6000 | 4090FE | Reverb G2 | VPC MongoosT-50CM2 + TM Grips | Winwing Orion2 Throttle | MFG Crosswind Pedals
fitness88 Posted June 29, 2018 Author Posted June 29, 2018 To be more precise...there is no movement in the actual F18 throttle at the bottom and top ends so I have about 60% throw. I've played around with saturation etc, when you do 1 thing that makes it better the other end gets affected. I'm going to look into the TARGET software of my FCSflight pack.
fitness88 Posted June 29, 2018 Author Posted June 29, 2018 It's an F18 bug. I flew other planes and it works perfectly well. As an example, in the F-15 the moment you push a little bit from the start of the physical range you see the RPM move and just when it gets to the 5th burner stage you are appropriately at the end of your physical range.
dburne Posted June 29, 2018 Posted June 29, 2018 Is that related to the fingerlifts - afterburner/idle off positions? The F18 throttle does not move all the way forward for me until I raise fingerlifts and engage afterburner, then it does. fitness88 Posted June 29, 2018 Author Posted June 29, 2018 Using Thrustmaster t16000m 82% saturation Y and slider enabled does the trick. 70%-100% then a small throw for A/B. Plane throttle moves with throttle device with no lag. A/B detent not being used.
escaner Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 It would be really nice that ED looked into this problem. Right now the throttle control is quite twitchy in part because it is not using the whole controller axis. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Dreadnaut Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 So here's the issue: When you get into a dark F-18 cockpit, the throttles are at FUEL CUTOFF. When you start the engines and hit SHIFT HOME or ALT HOME, you bring the throttles to FLIGHT IDLE The game has the throttle calibrated from IDLE CUTOFF to FULL POWER The game should have the throttle calibrated from FLIGHT IDLE to FULL POWER Visual representation: ----================ ================== First set of lines show the game range of throttle Second set of lines show the physical throttle range Due to the issues expressed above, when you physically move your throttle forward, you DO NOT see the throttle in the cockpit move until about 15% of physical movement. Saturation to 85% is only a work around and should be fixed in DCS, or at least an option for the user to choose how they want the throttle to work. Anyone even have a throttle that has the fuel cutoff gates? Dreadnaut Virtual Blue Angels #2
