Doum76 Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 (edited) In today's post of patch note, i'Ve seen something, that i thought was something i was expecting, but seems to be diferent: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3553296&postcount=16 Added abeam distance to course line. I thought this was the Cross Track Error Indicator/Perpendicular offset , but seems not and i got this update confused, if so it would had been on the HSI botom right handed corner (linked image, should apear below bearing on number 11), but nothing there so it's something different, anyone knows what it's actualy is and how to enable it in the HSI? bkthunder Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 I've been asking myself the same question... Windows 10 - Intel i7 7700K 4.2 Ghz (no OC) - Asus Strix GTX 1080 8Gb - 16GB DDR4 (3000 MHz) - SSD 500GB + WD Black FZEX 1TB 6Gb/s
JOJOZ Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 (edited) For me no problem after the update i have the Abeam distance on my HSI (just above the CSEL indication) like in the SuperHornet. You right, this is the Cross Track Error Indicator / Perpendicular offset, I can't upload a screenshot because i'm at my work but if nobody make it i'll uploading this when i'll gonna home. it's strange because when the Hornet was released i asked Wags on Youtube if this indication would be implemented in the future because I was used to having it in the SuperHornet and he replied that it did not exist on this version of the plane lol Edit : Find my question on the DCS: F/A-18C Hornet - Episode 9: CASE I Carrier Landing video: "Hey, F/A 18C does not have the Cross-Track Distance indication? we can not see our Abeam distance on the HSI TCN in the FA 18C? In the FA 18E we can look at our distance to the left or right just above the CSEL indication (with the FA18 E the correct range it is between 1.10 and 1.30) before 1.10 you are "Too close abeam" and after 1.30 you are "Too wide abeam" How do we can know these distance on the F/A18C https://i62.servimg.com/u/f62/16/15/38/75/fa_18e10.png" Matt Wagner Negative, not in OFP 13C Edited July 5, 2018 by JOJOZ

JOJOZ Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 (edited) Yes nothing more : Freq OSB TCN Course selected But i don't know if it's a bug but in the Superhornet this value is negative to the RIGHT and positive to the LEFT of course, it's not the case here, the value is always positive in the right or the left of course... Doum76 Posted July 5, 2018 Author Posted July 5, 2018 (edited) Dunno what i'm doing wrong, i'll retry it today, but wasn't showing... EDIT: i jsut tried and what is weird is, i do have something over it, looks like some info wants to show, but all i see is sorta small like on what should be the bottom lines of the letters/numbers, as if something is hidding the info... weird.. screenshot i made was in VR so quality is bad to show... i'll redo one later. One test i'll do is setting thwe HSI on right DDI, fow now i most of the time set it on left DDI, so maybe there's an alpha issue masking from the warnings text that overlap that part even though no warnings are there.... as the second lines og warnings gets to that spot.... Doum76 Posted July 5, 2018 Author Posted July 5, 2018 (edited) There we go, found the issue why i was not able to see it. It's as i thought, it's hidden on left DDI where i use the HSI mainly, but because i presume, alpha's or how even it's called is masking text where the warnings should appear for overlaping text even though no text are there, while on DDI it shows correctly as no warnings on that DDI. JOJOZ Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 Hummm yes its a bug... I haven't seen because i use the HSI only on the MCPD. So 2 bugs here : Value hidden on the left HSI and negative indication miss when we are on the right of course...

Doum76 Posted July 5, 2018 Author Posted July 5, 2018 Thanks dude! Well seems it ain't a bug after all. :) https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=214819
Jack McCoy Posted July 6, 2018 Posted July 6, 2018 I would consider this a faithfully reproduced quirk (of the bug kind) of the real Hornet's left DDI. i7-7700K@4.8GHz, 16Gb-3200, GTX-1080Ti-Strix-11Gb, Maximus IX Hero, Oculus Rift, Thrustmaster Warthog+F/A-18C, Logitech G940 Pedals.
Doum76 Posted July 6, 2018 Author Posted July 6, 2018 I would consider this a faithfully reproduced quirk (of the bug kind) of the real Hornet's left DDI. Yep, for once a bug serves them well. :P

Any news on this guys? I primarily use the left DDI. Would be great for the 5m Marshal as setup
PL_Harpoon Posted May 24, 2020 Posted May 24, 2020 Any news on this guys? I primarily use the left DDI. Would be great for the 5m Marshal as setup It's not a bug. Yes, intended. Just as in the real aircraft.
Razor18 Posted May 24, 2020 Posted May 24, 2020 (edited) On the left DDI the advisory line as a whole is I guess always blanked, not just until the last letter shown (not sure if it is ever empty at all?). Weird, but in real life too. SO if you want to see lateral distance, put the HSI on the right DDI or on the MPCD. But distance is never a negative value, so do not expect to see that ever, eigther. mcfleck Posted May 24, 2020 Posted May 24, 2020 It has been discussed a ton of times here and there in defferent threads. This topic pops up every few months. As per some Hornet pilots this line should NOT obstruct anything if no warning or advisery message is present. If I am not totally wrong it was also mentioned somewhere in the Fighter Pilot Podcast Q&A (but I am not sure on this one, cause I am working with my faulty memory here)... There are some mods out there that do not even break the IC that can be used for this purpose.
