m0unta1n6uy Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 How many of you would like to see a pit builders specific forum? 1 m0untain6uy [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] **Russian aircraft in the Colorado Rockies**
Alfa Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 As one of your poll options says, I don't really see a need for it :) I think this would sort under "Tech discussion", but we could make a sticky thread in this section specifically dedicated pit building projects. JJ
hitman Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 I agree with Alfa. Intel 13900k @ 5.8ghz | 64gb GSkill Trident Z | MSI z790 Meg ACE | Zotac RTX4090 | Asus 1000w psu | Slaw RX Viper 2 pedals | VPForce Rhino/VKB MCE Ultimate + STECS Mk2 MAX / Virpil MongoosT50+ MongoosT50CM | Virpil TCS+/ AH64D grip/custom AH64D TEDAC | Samsung Odyssey G9 + Odyssey Ark | Next Level Racing Flight Seat Pro | WinWing F-18 MIPS | No more VR for this pilot.
m0unta1n6uy Posted May 3, 2007 Author Posted May 3, 2007 Just a question, and purely theoretical, but, how would say... "Sharing blueprints for a modified akers-barnes cockpit" or "this is how I made my ejection seat" a "Tech discussion" I am just looking for a cockpit specific repository for information.... m0untain6uy [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] **Russian aircraft in the Colorado Rockies**

S77th-konkussion Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 I think he's saying put it in "tech discussion." Like people do now when the buy new rigs & bits. A home pit certainly can be categorized as a technical component. [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=43337&d=1287169113[/sIGPIC]
m0unta1n6uy Posted May 3, 2007 Author Posted May 3, 2007 While I dont disagree that sometimes it can be "technical", I was more looking for a heading under the main forums list for "Cockpit Builders" or something of that nature....not something buried under another forum... m0untain6uy [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] **Russian aircraft in the Colorado Rockies**

The "Tech discussion" area is for all things hardware - including game controllers(HOTAS, TIR etc) and in my book a home built pit would sort under the latter......although in an advanced form :) . Well the thing is that the sub-sections are there to "channel" subjects with a lot of traffic away from the "General Discussion" section, because they otherwise would tend to dominate this area. I can understand that people with a special interest would like it to have prominent place on the forum, but in my opinion pit building is not "big" enough to warrant a separate forum section. Just my opinion though :) . JJ
m0unta1n6uy Posted May 3, 2007 Author Posted May 3, 2007 I can respect that....I dont agree or like it, but I can respect it.....:) m0untain6uy [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] **Russian aircraft in the Colorado Rockies**
m0unta1n6uy Posted May 3, 2007 Author Posted May 3, 2007 Here is a great example of an fantastic pitbuilders forum: HoverControl It is all helicopter related, but it serves as a great example.... m0untain6uy [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] **Russian aircraft in the Colorado Rockies**
Aeroscout Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 I don't think just a sticky will do it justice. I believe a new section, like the tech discussion forum, would be nice. There are do many questions people will have about pits that i dont think one thread will be enough IMO. Sorry, just my 2 cents. DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices
m0unta1n6uy Posted May 3, 2007 Author Posted May 3, 2007 13 to 4 with 2 in the middle ..... looks like there ARE some cockpit zealots BESIDES myself that might be interested.....Hmmmmm...:) m0untain6uy [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] **Russian aircraft in the Colorado Rockies**

Aeroscout Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 yes, i'm consitering one my self with the arival of a new rig, so a designated place to go for help would be nice. Ice Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 Well maybe we could just modify the 3D Models forum to "3DModels and Pit-Builders Forum"

ED Team Wags Posted May 3, 2007 ED Team Posted May 3, 2007 Okay, this is becoming much to do about nothing. I've asked the admim to start such a forum; if after a few months it turns into a dead forum, we'll just remove it. Specnaz Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 Hi, I am agree with that, if you go on the http://www.checksix-forums.com , you will see that Lockon drives more and more crazy or fool guys like me to our wives' nightmare !!! : a full cockpit in the bedroom !!! So why not opening a new cockpit builder section and like he said, if not enough "life" in this section, then close it and transfer it to the tech subforum... it is my opinion tough... Best regards и до свидания друзей...
monotwix Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 A pit building yes sure it would be cool to read and see the stuff but than to have a dead thread probaly no. I'm going with 3d modeling for now and when ill get rid off the girlfriends and cats to make a pit, it should be easy than. For now a ive got a design in theiry though a pit with moving parts and every thing which i cant do. I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully.
m0unta1n6uy Posted May 4, 2007 Author Posted May 4, 2007 SPECNAZ!!! You crazy frenchie! Where have you been hiding!! I know that you say that you have been "working on the house..." but WE ALL know that you have really playing in the pit....:P Sorry Off topic!!...LOL m0untain6uy [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] **Russian aircraft in the Colorado Rockies**
G3 Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 i love the idea of a pit builders section, we have some great stuff to go in there straight away, eg: show your pit pics multi screen setups touchscreen setups virtual panel + touchbuddy setups and eg: custom lua configs ? trackir positioning for projectors lua export data discussions. make it and they will come :D thanks ED for doing this, great idea.
bnepethomas Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 Especially if it gets things like gear status into the LUA export!
