jasonstory44 Posted July 22, 2018 Posted July 22, 2018 I've watched numerous tutorials, can't seem to get the rockets to hit where I'm aiming in CCIP. Try and get the plane stable and trimmed. Pipper on target, wait for IN Range and fire and my rockets go all over the place. Sometimes short, sometimes left or right. No rhyme or reason I can figure out. Is this wind? Unless I'm on top of the target (way below the pull up warning) I can't get my rockets anywhere near close enough to damage the vehicles. Any suggestions or thoughts greatly appreciated Cheers, Jason Win 10 Pro, Intel i9 9900k overclocked to 5.1 (water cooled), 64 gb Corsair Dominator platinum RAM (3444 MHz) Titan RTX overclocked and water cooled 1.1 TB SSD 2 TB M.2 SSD TM Warthog Stick and throttle MFG Crosswinds Reverb VR Buttkicker LFE, SimShaker, Jetseat. Raven (Elysian Angel) Posted July 22, 2018 Posted July 22, 2018 Don't approach at too shallow an angle: I noticed that rocket accuracy increases dramatically at proper dive angles. LeCuvier Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 The dive angle is certainly an important factor. Further, I never fire the rocket when the "In Range" is displayed. "In Range" does not mean that you will get an accurate shot. I always wait until I'm a lot closer, and I get a hit most of the time. Remember, rockets are not precise like the gun. GrEaSeLiTeNiN Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 Yeah I have trouble destroying stuff with it too. They don’t frag much I guess. Ignition Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 (edited) Yeah I have trouble destroying stuff with it too. They don’t frag much I guess. Rockets in DCS always were useless. I also have this problem were the rockets fall short from were I aim, and I shoot them well inside the firing range. Edited July 23, 2018 by Ignition
chinpok Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 I use "the big rockets" and they are very effective, I prefer them vs bombs(with single rocket fire you can destroy more targets and you don't have to trim). I can always hit the target, it is very easy to use so to be honest I don't know what are you talking about. Of course dive angle and "in range" is important. Try to do the same with the F-5 :)
LeCuvier Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 Practice is a factor as always. I used to be unhappy with the gun and the rockets when I started flying the hornet, while I was very comfortable with them in the A-10C. Well, I have hundreds of hours in the hog, and I was just starting with the hornet. Meanwhile I'm very comfortable with gun, rockets and free-fall bombs in the hornet, and I think that rockets and free-fall bombs work as well in the hornet as in the hog. Both bombs and rockets don't have a realistic fragmentation effect, but that's not a problem of the hornet.
