MilesD Posted April 3, 2019 Author Posted April 3, 2019 Jewelery as fuel for peak operating efficiency? That doesnt sound like a good business plan :music_whistling: Anyway, Just make sure you observe basic handling precations for Electronic Static Discharge. It could bite you in the arse later on (Warrenty requests). You are handling bare electronic parts, which are a lot more sensitive to ESD than fully assembled PCBA. Get a ESD Mat, get a nice fancy ESD armband (More Jewelery for her :megalol:) and connect that gear to earth. Thanks for the reminder. I use a lot of aluminum workbenches that are not conductive to the floor, so I was able to make up a bunch of 10 watt 1 mega-ohm disapative ESD plugs. Basically, a household grounded three prong plug with the hot and neutral removed and the resistor goes between the clamp and the ground. I also designed and manufacture industrial test instruments and whenever I would populate and solder the thru hole boards I always forgot to put the ESD strap on, and when I did, I would usually forget to take it off when I got up. I thought making the whole table dissipate ESD would help. My first thought when I spread solder paste for the first time was "here is a potential to create an electron imbalance". Since I was on a poly-carbonate surface I immediately grounded the stencil to the workbench. I think I will have Carol work on a separately grounded ESD mat though now that you mention it. cordite Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Hi Gruman, ... I really don't expect PointCTRL to have very long legs, and new HMD integrated tech will probably replace it soon... Miles I don't see that myself. Even if the hardware does gets integrated soon, I expect the software support to lag.

iffoif Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 Hi everyone! A buddy of mine got interested in this device when I told him about it. Would it be possible to order 2 units when it is my turn? Don't want to mess it up for the next guy in line, so I'm asking here. Gesendet von meinem SM-G955F mit Tapatalk

Gesendet von meinem SM-G955F mit Tapatalk Hi iffoif, considering there are 96 post members after you I'm not sure you will get the go-ahead from them all. You would be better telling your buddy to ask to have his name added to the list to be fair to all. But that's just my personal opinion. P.S, of course, you could always request to go to the back 180 and ask for 2 units for you and your buddy it would be a bit of work for me shuffling numbers around but I don't mind:) Cheers. A2597 Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 Quick question I couldn't find in the past 30 or so pages... do the FCU's have an on/off switch? Or are they "Always on, charge before use" devices? Either way, I am moving form "On Hold" to the the "Instant Buy" list, have funds set aside for it when you are ready! :D
Fusedspine33 Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 (edited) Iffoif, We certainly welcome your friend to the community and the back of the line. Lol  Edited April 8, 2019 by Fusedspine33
Los Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 The FCUs have an on off switch. You press t turn on press and hold to turn off. When on, the sort of sleep when not pressed after x seconds but pop right back up when you press one of the "mouse buttons" (CU buttons). I have gone a few days without charging maybe 5 -6 hours. Los

Deano87 Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 Hey Miles, how are things going? Not nagging, I know how long getting something ready for production can take, just wondering if there has been any movement in the last week or so? Still waiting for stuff to arrive? Not nagging, I know how long getting something ready for production can take, just wondering if there has been any movement in the last week or so? Still waiting for stuff to arrive? Not nagging at all, Sorry I have been very busy wrapping up the final fixtures and dialing in the reflow oven. I also updated the FCU design for the first production shipments. Its the same shape, just a bit smaller and a much better attachment system. I will post some pics of the FCU in the morning. Some test units are going out Friday and I will probably contact some of the initial slow roll out testers over the weekend for shipping info. Here is the new re-flowed FCU PCBs. You can see the clear cyanoacrylate glue where the PCBs meet for durability. The board connection does not receive any stress from operation.
