hitman Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 Run it as administrator at all times. It wont submit any changes unless you do.
andyfoot Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 How do you run as the Administrator? My brother is having problems, he has Vista (I haven't upgraded yet) and he keeps getting some error message up saying he needs Administrator Rights. He can't get the game to run at all and is getting frustrated, I don't know that much about Aministrator Rights or Vista so can't really help him, but he is desparate to play this game as he as just got an X52 Pro, and I gave him my old Track IR2.
ED Team Groove Posted June 14, 2007 ED Team Posted June 14, 2007 Simply right-klick on the Lockon.exe and there should be a context-menu "run as admin". Unfortunately you have to do this everytime u start the game. Only other option is to turn it off completly which would also kill the biggest security feature in Vista... TorwaK Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 It's not a problem... the biggest Flaming Cliffs problem with Vista O/S is when you enter the game and click FLY button, game is freezing. You must shut down it by taskbar. It happens very often and there is no solution yet. So ready to break your PC :wallbash: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Intel Core i7-6700K, @5GHz | Asus Maximus Hero VIII | 2 x eVGA GTX 970 SLI | Kingston Predator 16GB DDR4-3000Mhz | 2 x Samsung 850 PRO 240GB RAID-0 | AOC G2460PG G-SYNC LCD | OCULUS RIFT CV1 VR | THRUSTMASTER HOTAS WARTHOG | CH PRO PEDALS
hitman Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Neither do I. Never had it on any of the 2 systems I had running Vista. Ever. Not even when I tried to run it on the 64 bit version.

Yes! You must deactivate the "User accounts steering" in Vista! ;) PS. I have the G15 board and any macro file works fine! TorwaK Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 I dont have that problem. It's very interesting because my 2 friends have the same problem who use Vista O/S with FC. Even they've different computer configuration than mine. Ven Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 LOMAC does crash on my Vista 64 only when I exit. Which is not a big deal since I'm exiting anyway and I just end the process in task manager. Problems can exist on one system configuration and not on another. It can be blamed on the hardware or the OS. But after reading your system spec which is almost identical to mine TorwaK, except that I didn't overclock like you did, I'm wondering if its your overclocking that's causing the instability. My system spec: E6600 @2610Mhz (1160 FSB) Asus P5N32-E SLI (680i SLi) eVGA 8800GTX Corsair Dominator TWIN2X2048-8500C5D 2GB Kit (5-5-5-18 ) Antec TruePower TRIO 650 650W Seagate 320GB x2 RAID0 Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit
Aeroscout Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 I have only had one problem with vista... in multiplayer, even with your engines off, you hear the constant (very loud) growl as if your ABs were on. Other than that, Everything Vista is ok for me. I must say, i actually like the OS. DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices
Prophet Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Thats been talked about, check the other Vista threads. Try AlChemy to see if it works for you.
hitman Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 I downloaded the new Realtek drivers and it went away for me.

Yeah I forgot about it, here is the same... sometimes when you quit Lock-On to windows it hangs on memory and needs to shutdown by taskbar. But after reading your system spec which is almost identical to mine TorwaK, except that I didn't overclock like you did, I'm wondering if its your overclocking that's causing the instability. My system spec: Jut to be sure I worked my PC for a few days with default BIOS settings and there was no overclock. All time I got the same result so I'm sure its not about overclocking. I've got exactly the same problem. On my rig it happens about 9 out of 10 times, so it's pretty hopeless atm. Any solution or workaround to this problem yet? My rig is a E6600 - 2GB PC6400 - 8800GTX - Vista 32bit Nothing overclocked.
Prophet Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 It only locks up for me when I try to exit the game. No problems flying.
S77th-konkussion Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 I *THINK* it was something to do with the default window theme- "aero". You will note that from time to time- when you start certain programs you will recieve a notice saying that "Aero theme is not compatible and will temporarily disable itself while this program is running", then resume upon exit. TheMoose Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 You are correct Konkussion. Especially if you use the transparency feature. Even FSX disables it before launching. I tried and disable all Aero features for testing. I was getting less crashes, but I still had some, but less is the key word. Then again, none would be premium. lol Antec 900 gaming tower, PSU: Corsair 750W, Q6600, Asus P5K, 8Gig Mushkin, Nvidia eVGA 280 GTX Superclocked 1G DDR3, SSDNOW200 Kingston Drive, TrackIr 3000+Vector, Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick, Saitek rudder pedals pro, Sharp 42" inch LCD Aquo.
