Cdr.Instigator Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 I'm about to hit make payment on a couple on items at eDimensional.. I just wanted some input. I'm about to order the https://edimensional.com/product_inf...products_id=28 and the https://edimensional.com/product_inf...roducts_id=122 I was wondering if it would work good and add that extra dimension to my trackIr3Pro with Expansion..? Will I be able to not only use the 6dof but watch it in 3D and have the sorround sound to back it all up..? I'm going to hit make payment now.. but, let me know if I'm going to be able to enjoy it to the fullest.. Thanks __________________
EscCtrl Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 Would be interesting to try it but I bet it'll make you feel sick playing games like that, and you'll end up delusional and be locked up for a long time. Would that really be healthy for your eyes to view a screen that close?
SuperKungFu Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 yea i mean, i look pretty bad wearing a trackir hat and stuff....but the glasses....people would really say "wtf?" I mean its a cool idea, hope its a good purchase for you. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Cdr.Instigator Posted June 10, 2007 Author Posted June 10, 2007 Ok, the order went through and I now have to wait for my new gadgets.. I think it'll been kool watching the action in a whole new way.. Adding that extra effect to my Track IR pro with expansion is going to rock.. I just can't wait to hear the sounds and special effects on my head phones is going to Rock... I'll keep you all posted when I try them out for the first time... and soon after several weeks with the results....
rogue_blade Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 according to a user at lockonfiles the glasses suck balls [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
hitman Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 Im sure the glasses are worse than that...Ive read nothing but bad reviews, Cappie...the resolution on them are going to fry your eyeballs at 640x480.
Ven Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 I have the glasses and when it works, it's amazing. Many people think it'll make them sick and dizzy but it doesn't. If you have no problem watching 3D iMax movies, you're not gonna have problem using shutter glasses. Plus, you can adjust the effects. In the beginning, you use very slight 3D but as you get used to it, I used to use almost full 3D effect. Effect in LOMAC is awesome too but you'll have problem targeting anything in A10's Avenger because the placement of HUD is not represented correctly in 3D world. But in A2A mode, glasses with TrackIR gives you "being there" feeling. Now the keyword in the first sentence I said is... "When it works". Nvidia sorta dropped the stereo driver support. To make it work, you're gonna have to use a year old driver for both normal graphic and stereo since they have to match. You're also outta luck if you have GeForce 8 series and if you have Vista. Nvidia says they will be coming out with new stereo driver but hard to believe since it's been a year since the last driver was released. But I'm still hopeful as the 3D effect simply is amazing.
Ven Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 Im sure the glasses are worse than that...Ive read nothing but bad reviews, Cappie...the resolution on them are going to fry your eyeballs at 640x480. You can do stereo at 1600x1200. Those are shutter glasses, not HMD. 1
Arthonon Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 As an owner of the eDimensional glasses, I'll just second everything that Ven said - I bought 'em years ago and stopped using them because they didn't work properly with a lot of stuff, and Nvidia stopped doing much to support them.
AlxF Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 I got a pair of the glasses last week and to say I've been really pleased with them is an understatement. I run lock on at 1280x960 and a refresh of 120Hz, and the sense of being in the cockpit at height is brilliant. Nvidia have released a beta stereo driver for the 8800 series which you'll find on the edimensional site. You wont feel sick with them if you go easy with the 3d settings at first until you adjust.
PythonOne Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 I think the real question to Cdr. Instigator is why did you create a thread asking for the advice from the community, and only wait about 10 min before buying it. You are not going to a real answer within that time.
Cdr.Instigator Posted June 11, 2007 Author Posted June 11, 2007 I think the real question to Cdr. Instigator is why did you create a thread asking for the advice from the community, and only wait about 10 min before buying it. You are not going to a real answer within that time. The reason I created this thread to ask the question was to hear what you guys had to say. I had already made up my mind because I had been reading up on it for a while. Finally I had made up my mind and it wouldn't matter the negative answer there were to sure come. I had the money to spend and the foresight that I would enjoy it no matter what. I like 3D movies and since I have TrackIr3 pro with expansion it would surly be a great addition to my gaming world. I can't wait to receive it and try it myself with a review soon after.. thanks for you all replies....

PythonOne Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 so do you pick on everyones threads?? It was a legitimate question. You, however, came here to start a fight. What are you 8 again?
AlxF Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Good luck with that Instigator, pm me if you want some help with setting up the glasses.
Cdr. Instigator Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Thank you Alf for the offer. I just might call you up on it. Hopefully the instructions that come with it aren't to difficult to follow.. :joystick::book::doh::pilotfly:
Stealth Clobber Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 I got those glasses a couple years back. They didn't make me sick, they just hurt my eyes.
Ven Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 I got those glasses a couple years back. They didn't make me sick, they just hurt my eyes. Yea, that's one thing to remember when you set it up. The way the glasses work, it cuts the refresh rate of your monitor in half. So if you're monitor is at 60Hz, you'll be viewing 30Hz per eye. And that will hurt your eyes. Make sure your monitor is capable of 120Hz or at least 100Hz. At 120Hz, you shouldn't feel any eyestrain. It'll be like staring at normal monitor at 60Hz. Like I've said, if you get it to work, it's amazing. But nowdays, you almost have to custom build your system for it to work properly due to poor driver support.
Frazer Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Interesting, i got the glasses for like 5 or 6 years now, after lots of tries to get it working it disappeared in some boxes. Reading this, I realised I had a G-force 4 at the time, and now I got a ATI Radeon 9800 PRO. Does anyone know if it will work with this card? Your enthusiasm Ven, is making me curious again :smilewink: And by the way, those glasses are damn ugly indeed! I will lock the door if i'm going to use them again :music_whistling: Forum | Videos | DCS:BS Demo1 / Demo2 | YouTube Channel [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
hitman Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 The glasses are only compatible with nvidia graphics cards.

PythonOne Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 there you go again trying to start a fight, the heck is your problem? Seriously, grow up.
Weta43 Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Maybe you could both have a competition to see who can behave like an adult for the longest & not rise to the other's bait ? Cheers.
Frazer Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 The glasses are only compatible with nvidia graphics cards. Damn, at the time, i had a nvidia card...and it didn't work  About whats going on up here, keep this threat on topic please. If you want to argue, do it private.
