I saw it was coming in updates but I find I still cannot allocate slammers to the Hornet. I have Open Beta and Release versions, but no sign of them.

Confused? Are you referring to AIM-120s not being available or AGM-84 SLAM-ER? 120s have been available for the Hornet since around July. There are no advanced Air-to-Ground munitions implemented yet.

Slammer is a colloquialism for the AIM-120.

Yes, you should be able to equip the Hornet with up to 10 AMRAAMs; they have been available for a couple of months now. Many servers restrict the usage of the AIM-120 so if you're playing public multiplayer that may he the issue. If you are unable to load the AMRAAM in a single player environment, try running a DCS repair and ensure you have updated.

"Slammer" as a colloquialism refers to the SLAM-ER only.

At one point there was the AMRAAM and the SLAMRAAM, the SLAMRAAM was surface launched version that never happened. That program was cancelled in 2011 by Robert Gates, The King Of Cancelled Development Programs.

Parts of the cancelled SLAMRAAM project live on in the high mobility launcher part of the NASAMS-II system. So at least there are surface launched AMRAAMS, just not in a US-built system.

And I'm nitpicking, but isn't using both "surface launcted" and "air ro air" in the same acronym a bit weird? A surface-to-air-to-air missile. Maybe Gates was forced to can the project by the Department of Linguistics :P

I seem to recall there is not a standard 'pre built' loadout with Aim 120s, so you may need to create a new custom loadout in the mission planner. Then you can add 120B or 120Cs manually, then save the loadout. Have youn tried that?

"Slammer" is 100% a colloquialism in common use for the AIM120 AMRAAM, there are tons of references to the nickname:

Interesting. I haven't tried that Silversmith. I'll look at that as well as a repair, although I have kept up to date. Or maybe my Slammers have been Gateserized!
