Troffmeister Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 Thanks Alfa , that is the kind of clarification , i have been waiting for along time , both reading and posting on these forums ) having digested the info you have provided , it sadly confirms what i had thought , and my worse case scenario ! my aspiration , was to be able to add alot of new stuff into the Lo engine , and do a fs2004 in terms of planes , ships etc - and have these new 3d entities in the game mission editor as usuable objects , eg planes a flying , ships a sailing , and weapons a firing etc - as this is not possible to achieve satisfactorily - and as i personally find the swapping in / out of existing 3d objects undesirable , i think its time to be realistic and abandon my LO game engine 3d aspirations thanks for clarifying Roger

Like so many others here I would love to be able to play around with the embedded objects, remove some, replace some. I am going to use your Hangar but not in place of the Comms Centre, I like that and use it a lot. I wanted to replace the Repair Workshop with it but have hit a small snag. The embedded Repair Workshops it replaces, which I cannot remove of course, are all facing the other way round - 180 degrees difference. Is there any way I can change the direction of your hangar to overcome this ? Cheeky request I know - if the answer is sod off - off I will sod !
SuperKungFu Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 You can add a new static object by editing appropriate *.sht file, make the entry in the meinit.xml and identify it with a custom generated CLSID. yea I remember we isntalled that static object pack, but i thought there was a limit amount of objects you can add. I remember in the previous thread, someone said it would crash if you added over a certain amount of limit. I could be wrong though. Anyway, Alfa, could you tell us how to manually add this hanger into the meinit.xml file? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

At least in regards to ships Lock-on has a lot of potential for mod projects - the thing is that Lock-on "inherited" all ship entries(about 30) from the Flanker title, but only about half of them are currently being used. The remaining ship slots have the full weapons code in place, so with new 3D models available they can be made fully functional in Lock-on. For aircraft there are only two such inactive entries(MiG-29K and F-111) which can be revived. JJ
Troffmeister Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 Thanks ALFA thats heartening to know ) i am about 3 weeks away from showing 3 new related 3d objects , i have built / still making here ) depending on the response i get to these in terms of LO implementation , when i publish the screenshot renders , i will review the 3d modding situation then . The worse case scenario for me , means paying a small monthly fee for some reliable webspace , doing my own modelling hobby website , and continuing to build the 3d models i want , still to the 60-125k poly thresholds for aircraft and ships - as a general fun hobby , and not specifically aimed for LO if i decide to do this , then its unlikely i will continue to post here , its pointless to show 3d stuff here on the LO forums , if the objects will never make it into the LO game engine correctly anyway thats my take on the situation ,cheers for the info Roger )

I don't think there is a limit - but messing with these files you can easily make a small mistake somewhere that will cause a crash :) . Anyway, Alfa, could you tell us how to manually add this hanger into the meinit.xml file? It is not just the meinit that needs to be edited in order to add an object to the game - it first needs to be "declared" as an available shape file in the "structtable.sht". Then you must generate a new CLSID for it(e.g. using this tool: http://www.forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=20399 ). Then make the entry in the meinit.xml(under "fortifications" section) stating the new CLSID and shape name as stated in the "structtable.sht" for it. Then finally add reference lines for the entry under each country for which you would like it available. As far as how to edit the meinit, This the sort of thing that is harder to explain than to do and I am not too keen on giving step-by-step instructions, because unless you understand what you are doing there is a huge margin for errors. It is actually quite easy to edit stuff in the meinit, but it requires that you understand the system and are very careful about syntax. The best thing to do is to look for an existing entry of similar nature in the meinit, study how it is made and then replicate the entry but replacing the bits - the CLSID and the name of 3D shape - with the ones for your new object. You build an Lightline and take an "BanoWhite" or red or green -TGA over this. It only works on day thats why i´am delete it. But i work with this effecs in other projekts like my firefighters. rattler Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 Tomcatz: Is it posssible for you to make a damage model so if you hit it with a bomb it will get destroyed, or prevent us from driving planes through it. That seems to be the only thing missing, very nice job. I will use it as you have it but a damage file for it would be an awesome touch. Cheers and again, great work.

Well you allways can destroy the hangar if you had insert the "comodestr.-LOM" in your LockOn-Files. You must attack a special-Point on top backside with an very hard bomb. Viper has created the hangars ModMan-ready. I hope, that one day, the forum go online. Hey viper- i had upgraded my groundpersonal. The modell is a little better now and i had try to build a better texture on it. I hope the situation of the forum is not hopeless. The textures from SuperKungFu looks very cool. I'm not sure how many but you can still add 100 objects before it crashes though ;) As Alpha said, new designed models should be noted in the structtable.sht file aswell.
