Hey Chaps

I am in two mind s as to what to do. When the Rift first came out I owned one for about a year and a half. Then due to poor image quality and not being able to spot targets for 10k up in the warthog i stopped using it, eventually selling it.

I am hoping the Pimax will be the next big thing, I have heard that it is best used with the Vive sensors, so do I go and spend the dosh on a £500 Vive now and start flying VR again or do I leave it and see what the requirements will be.

I really loved flying in VR, especially for the depth of field and the ability to judge speed extremely well.

Thoughts?

If you were not happy with the Rift, then certainly you would not be happy with the Vive.

Maybe a Vive Pro would be better but then that is a bunch of bucks.

I personally would wait on regular consumers around here get their pre-orders of the Pimax units first and check out their reports. In the meantime you might want to check out the Samsung Odyssey +, it has been getting some good reports here and there.

I think those who choose not to fly in VR because of the perceived 'low image quality' have a while to wait for a VR system that will meet their expectations. The Odyssey + and the PIMAX are a step up, but by no means 'next generation'.

I am so hooked on my RIFT I see past the lower image quality and enjoy the experience greatly :)

The fact that you were able to sell it and live with no VR for a while suggests you are not as addicted as others (incl myself), means - you can wait for a better product hitting the market.

I'm addicted - I sit for hours wearing a blacked out scuba mask and do pretend VR until I can afford a new video card and the O+.

Rift is out of the question because the sensors would become cat toys inducing nausea.

Pimax will be huge disappointments well. Picture clarity is not superior to Samsung O+ for example. The only real benefit is FOV which come with a huge price in performances. So in this stage for DCS usage Pimax is the questionable solution. Bad software and no ASW yet and there is no clue or announcement when will be ready. There is no even some beta or similar in developing stuff and there is a huge question is the Pimax devs even capable to do what they promise.

I will wait with Pimax to be properly tested and still staying huge question is Pimax in final stage worth that huge 1200$.

Order Samsung O+ and try it for 14 days. If you are satisfied keep it if not return it. Pimax has similar picture quality with SO+ or VivePRO.
