dresoccer4 Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 kind of a generic question, but was wondering if the 4 ZUNI rockets were worth their weight vs the 19 MK151? obviously 19 is better than 4, unless those 4 were beasts. does anyone know if the ZUNIs are actually that much more destructive in-game? Tholozor Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 The Zuni rocket is much larger, and the rocket motor has a lot more fuel so it can burn longer and faster, therefore increasing range and accuracy. The M151 Hydra rockets are only about 10 lbs. worth of explosives, mostly meant for dealing area-of-effect and blast-fragmentation damage. The high-explosive warhead for the Zuni is almost a whopping 50 lbs. So, if you're going up against large groups of small, lightly-armored targets, I would recommend staying with the Hydra, but if you're on a pre-planned ground attack strike against, say, and installation or static defense, I would use the Zuni. A lot to factor into it as well is your drag coefficient based on the surface area encompassed by the front of the launcher itself. I've managed to take out static objects in-game with the Zuni that a Hydra couldn't even scratch, it all depends on the tactical situation, so I say plan accordingly. Can Zuni ‘s take out say the bunkers on BF? Or maybe the fuel depots? Ps: where are you playing now Tholo? Haven’t seen you on lately! TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Tholozor Posted December 20, 2018 Posted December 20, 2018 Haha, not the bunkers, but a well-aimed shot will take out those annoying white fuel tanks with the bugged hitbox. Still playing BF, just taking a break for the holidays. Tholozor Posted December 20, 2018 Posted December 20, 2018 Against an MBT, not likely with either rocket unless you use the MK5 Hydra, which has a HEAT warhead, but you'll have to get a direct hit to do any damage, and even then not a whole lot. DmitriKozlowsky Posted December 20, 2018 Posted December 20, 2018 Sidewinder airframe is based on ZUNI. In DCS: AV-88/NA ZUNIes are most effective against armor and small ships/boats. You can look at ZUNI as unguided AG version of Sidewinder, packing heavier warhead.
Eldur Posted December 20, 2018 Posted December 20, 2018 In DCS, 4 Zuni weigh far less than half of what 19 Hydras weigh, so yes, they're worth it definately.

dresoccer4 Posted December 20, 2018 Author Posted December 20, 2018 speaking of ZUNI, has anyone else noticed they're missing in the launchers? they work fine, but the launchers look empty; can see right through the holes... ??
