Are you a Sierra Hotel virtual pilot? I landed, and stopped, with the MiG-29 on the carrier deck – and here’s the proof:

I also landed the Su-33 on the CVN-76 just for good measure, and had some fun with the Lockheed Shooting Star on a pitching flight deck on a stormy evening.

You can land the '33 on the CVN-70 and catch the arrestor wires. what happened in your movie... you didn't...

DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices

I can, did it with the Su-27 in Flanker, did it with the miggie, A-10 and maybe F-15 (don't remember about that one) on the Kuz, no headwind, nothing, 20 degree C TAT, stationary Kuz, no ACS failures, just landed without bitching. Also landed a su-33 missing half a wing, landed a wingless su-33, but all with the arrestor.

Oh, also put down the Su-33 without using a hook, as brake pads are cheaper than stressing the airframe. (su-25s too, but those are easy to land)

Also done some meint flyables, F-117, S-3 maybe some others.

Always like youre stuff DSP, but let me just say if you are 50 OK cool and if you are 15, well grow it up a bit and...make it Splash hot.

I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully.

You regular Lock On jockeys are just too good for me. I'll need to set a more challenging task such as coming to a comfortable stop on the hangar deck of the Kuznetsov have arrived via the funnel :D

Aeroscout, it just never occured to me

Of course the real challenge would be to get that AlphaSim Su-35 onto the carrier.

Monotwix, thanks.

DPS, growing old disgracefully.

Nice one, CountryCowfreak, only you forgot to switch off your landing lights. :smartass:

Anyway, good effort all the same.

I tried that once, and it didn't work so well. I actually crashed. (due to lockon glitch, i went through the deck :() that was attempted on CVN-70. i'll have to try again on the Kuz. ;)

Turn the wind up high and set the carrier full-steam-ahead. Don't line up with the landing-on deck, just fly the approach along the wake line of the ship and use the full length of the boat.

Who need arrestor cables?

I think using the wind is cheating. But I'll try everything else.

Respect! NICE work DPS!

My first carrielanding are with the Su-25T a few months ago! ;)

I've managed a vanilla landing on the Kuz....it wasnt pretty but...got her down. The 25T is nice and straight forward too. Dunno about the migs and stuff, guess its challenging also.

As soon as I repair my rig I might have to give it another go, cos it sure is fun ;)

Nice one DPS, anyone who gives it a go at least gets a thumbs up from me.

Stick control, throttle and borderline low speed my young padawans, or whatever it's spelled like.

Landing a vanilla su-25 is easier than the T, as it's lighter. I can land the vanilla with 2 fuel tanks, but overshoot in a 25t with 2 tanks.

Nice work, ViperVJG73. Does the drogue chute wrap itself around the fin as you whip the aircraft through 180 degrees on the deck? In fact big respect for getting your fingers onto the P key during the very short landing roll - guess that is where HOTAS would come in handy.

No I don't need to turn by 180 degrees.

The drag chut and the strong wind drawing the aircraft back.

I must timely cut off the drag chut, before one forsakes the carrier deck backward. :D

I don't bother much about those landings..they're not realistic at all. You need to put some strong head winds, speed up the carrier etc. Might just as well put an additional rotor on the 25T.:music_whistling:

Lets see, crosswind? check, Su27? check, kuznetsov? check.. ok.. here we go pugachev..

I wanna see someone go for a normal landing on a carrier, and cobra land on it :)

Is breaking the laws of gravity illegal?

I've imagined one of those... you kinda flop the plane on to the deck... :pilotfly:

Cool but ive seen it before..

i was looking for something like.. where the carrier is moving forward, n the su27 (yes..su27) is coming from behind like a norm landing, and it cobra's while below the deck line and lands on the carrier :)

Wind to slow it down

Is breaking the laws of gravity illegal?

I would say a Cobra landing on the kuz in a su-27 is very hard to do without wing, and a moving carrier, as the Cobra script always lets you exit at 250 kph, and with optimal braking (airbrake deployed, flaps retracted at touch down) the su-27 needs no more than 185 km/h, otherwise you'll overshoot. That and the fact that the brake chute does not deploy makes it kind of hard to loose those 65 km/h, unless you 'cheat' with wind and a Kuz at 32 kts
