AvroLanc Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Although it’s been mentioned in passing in a few updates, is there any more information on how the Link 4 datalink is going to work? Is this going to be fully functional upon EA release? I’ve not seen many glimpses of symbology etc in the few preview videos. Is the FFDL, the Fighter to Fighter Datalink, going to be modelled accurately? Capabilities, were I gather: 4 F-14s in a network displaying own aircraft position and each friendly aircraft A transmission of each RIOs trackfiles list Auto transmission of fuel and missiles remaining Pretty useful stuff. Any insight from devs? Can’t wait to start seeing the RIO cockpit.
Naquaii Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 The Link 4 will be in at release, both modes. The normal Link 4 is set to a host, like a carrier or awacs and then receives datalink targets. It's also used for ACL with the carrier. The fighter to fighter link will also work with up to 4 F-14s sharing position and targets. As for fuel and missile status, that's probably a later life upgrade if so and not something we'll have in. Not at launch anyway.

What causes up to 4?:smilewink:
Tenkom Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 Does the hornet have link-4 capability? I know it has link 16 but maybe it’s backwards compatible? If so, will it be able to talk to the f-14?
