TheConqueror Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 (edited) We have real F-5 pilot and he is test DCS F-5 , He said flight handle reacts not bad (pitch, roll, rudder) but gas arm reacts too late... And we are trying formation flight with this... It’s really difficult When we are pull throttle back speed reacts fast but when we are open throttle waiting so much for speed up reacts :( Tapatalk kullanarak iPhone aracılığıyla gönderildi Edited February 13, 2019 by TheConqueror
ED Team NineLine Posted February 12, 2019 ED Team Posted February 12, 2019 Changes are tough to make with such limited info, can you or your friend provide any sort of proof or info to these claims? I understand he is a real F-5 pilot, but I am not sure that helps ED make any changes. I am sure the feeling of acceleration is better in the real thing for obvious reasons. TheConqueror Posted February 13, 2019 Author Posted February 13, 2019 (edited) [NEED MORE INFO] F-5E Speed Up Problem what kind of proof ? Example : You following someone and you and your leader flying 75 RPM 370knots Leader opening throttle 75 RPM to 90 And you too doing this or 100 rpm but its is cannot recover quickly , The leader plane is getting away Maybe you can watch this maneveur 08:00 to 08:50 and you can try to do it in DCS World with F5 and try formation flight with 3-5 person you can understand us. ED Team cofcorpse Posted February 13, 2019 ED Team Posted February 13, 2019 what kind of proof ? Some additional information. "He said ... gas arm reacts too late" - this isn't enough to make any changes. Maybe he can say how much does it take for engine to spin up from IDLE to MIL? Or something like this.
Nooch Posted February 13, 2019 Posted February 13, 2019 (edited) what kind of proof ? You have to understand that developers want precise and documented information. They need numbers to base their work on. They can't just re-program the F-5's engine behavior with a general idea. Edited February 13, 2019 by Nooch [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Ala13_ManOWar Posted February 13, 2019 Posted February 13, 2019 I think that which was said refers to spool up time, so more info (and reliable info) should be shown in order to make effective changes. For instance, "I have measured current F-5E spool up time and is XX secs while I hold this info (and show it, actual manuals better) saying it should be YY secs". S! Cabi599 Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 (edited) I jumped into a T-38 with a J85-15 engine and made this video and then plotted the time it took to accelerate from IDLE (50%) to Mil (100%) and the plot is basically an exponential acceleration. The Simulation is more like a linear (almost logarithmic?) plot? See attached graph and Click here for video: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1AD41lx5o3xUNdS5e_6Q5it5wrbLSCrrJ/view?usp=sharing Once the %RPM is 80% or greater, the engine response is INSTANTANEOUS! The graph (below) is the time is takes to go from IDLE(50%) to 55% = 1 sec, then 0.66 sec to reach 60% (from 55%), etc... Total time from IDLE-to-100% = 3.29 Seconds.
