Is there any way to make the tutorials text reappear?

Not that I'm aware of, but I would agree that it would be great to have an option in the radio menu or somewhere get it back. Reality is that for most players the tutorials are a tiny amount of the time they spend on the games (albeit a really important part) so chances of much dev time getting devoted to this is slim.

Although I'd actually like to have the ability to get AI radio messages back too.

Thanks for the answer.

I never needed them but the F14 really takes some time to figure out for me. Difficult plane... if one wants to understand it and doesnt have much background. The Manual also is hard to read for me. So much military slang unkown to me.

Never had this problem in the Hornet, nor A10 nor whatever. Would really love to have that text reappear. Now i always have to reset whole mission. Starts to hit my nerves a bit ^^

The whole tutorials are not much worth if things like "Move back to spider detent" without explaining what a spider detent is.

I think ive spent already 3 times the amount of time in this tutorial cause of the reson with disappearing text/reload mission. Atm i feel like a full noob, even i have 5 or 6 planes in DCS and can fly most of them pretty well

After it faded out, how to get tutorial text back?

You cant ... when doing the training missions, I simply use Active-Pause a lot :D both to understand better the instructions and to locate all the switches needed to acomplish each task.

Would be too great. That tiny font is so hard to read, it takes ages and before you finished, it just disappears, so you just have to keep pausing to get around this. Especially hurtful in all of the BST modules that simply don't have voiceovers.

I use this Mod for increasig the text size, works well and it is compatible with 2.5.4:

Nothing like being 3/4 of the way through a long tutorial (like the F14 cold start) and have an interruption occur. Would definitely +1 the need to make the last tutorial text reappear!

Seems like sometime ago I came across a series of YouTube videos where some enterprising content developer took the time to record himself going through the tutorials and amplifying the steps. I found it useful to follow along, pause and even rewind some segments and then compare results on the tutorial giving me difficulty. Maybe someone will do that for the F14?

thats a good idea indeed :-) Maybe i do that even for myself. I think ill try that at least for the few i constantly have to reload. If they are usable i put the to youtube of course but cant promise it atm. Dont quote me on it ^^

I really don't know exactly what you Fliers are taking about, but...………

Can you pause the simulation, do a [shift] Print Screen to "photo" the tutorial wording,

then do an Alt Tab to get to a Word document and dump the "photo" there for later review.

Then resume the sim. to the next tutorial text and do the same???? Just an idea, albeit tedious.

This topic has been discussed many times here. It surely must be simple to keep the text onscreen until the user presses space.

Also, I seem to recall that the text for training missions is stored in a file somewhere. I’ll have a look tomorrow.

+1 on this idea. I will have to try the active pause idea. I did a couple of tutorials but because the info disappeared before I wanted it to, and because you can't just back up one pause button, but have to restart at the beginning, I haven't used them any more. Seems a waste doesn't it?

I had a look for the file that contains the text. It is in the miz file which you can open with something like 7-Zip. Then, double click on the folder inside. You will see the DEFAULT file. Open that, and the text is contained in the 'dictionary' file, albeit in a messy format.

if you open the training mission in the mission editor(ME), and open the 'triggers' you will find the part with block of text along with the audio file for each step. As i recall the text is on a regular time out, but you could easily go and copy all of the text blocks into a text file for the mission you are working on.

If you are not sure how, or need help just let us know, i could grab all the text for the mission you are working on, but its worth checking it out in the ME also a good way to learn a bit about the ME
