I can't post a track, because they're always too big in multiplayer, but buddy lasing is not working for GBU's on the F-18 or F-14 with an A-10 lasing or a Harrier lasing.

I beg to differ. We had a couple of really successful sessions with an A10 lasing for both the FA18 and F14 this week, multiple runs with multiple aircraft and a very high rate of success. The only one's that missed was when I forgot to key in the laser code or if the A10 ran into masking, eventually we burnt the laser out on the A10. We were using GBU-12's and GBU-10's.

I was dropping them about 30 - 50 meters away from the target... as close as i can without actually hitting them.

I report this because the Harrier was lasing, and the hornet's laser maverick would pick up the laser and lock, so I know it's working and the Harrier is lasing properly, but the GBU's wouldn't hook up and guide. I tried every GBU the hornet and tomcat can carry. Same problem, all on laser code 1688. I'll test again tonight and post a track on a 3rd party site i guess.

Are you dropping them with CCIP or CCRP (Auto mode)?

And at what altitude?

If you are dropping super close to a target or really low I’m not surprised you are missing. Try auto bombing from a few thousand feet.

Yeah that's way too close. You need to get up high as the LGB needs time to home in on the target and bang bang it's way in.

It's not designed to be dropped from low altitude. It's meant to be dropped from a "safe" altitude away from small arms, manpads etc.

Angel's 20 and above works well and make sure to set to auto delivery and get a waypoint close to the target to designate said delivery parameters.

Cheers, hope this helps.

My buddy and I are also trying to buddy lase with the A-10 and drop bombs from the F/A-18. We are using the release build (not the beta) and it appears to be very buggy still. The A-10 laser isn't supposed to burn out but it often just shuts off. Usually the bombs don't guide. They are being CCRP released targeting very close to the laser target (we used smoke rockets to make sure we are on the same target.) Also if I am in the F/A-18, I see my bombs going random places but on my buddy's screen they look like they are guiding (he is the multiplayer host and is running the laser.) I am pretty sure is it at least half broken and don't expect it to work.

Tip: You can sometimes use the Laser Maverick for debugging because it will tell you if it can see the laser and lock on to it.

PS: When I say "random places" I mean including the bombs "pulling up" and flying upwards like a missile for a while.

The laser in the A10 does burn out. It takes a while, but it happens.

There was a video somewhere around where you can see exactly the same behavior.

The video was about another bug related to the current max lasing range of 8-10nm.

If the lasing plane is outside of former mentioned distance, the GBU tends to even climb after being dropped and go nuts, because it sees the reflecting laser spot floating in the air.
