Here's an example in the RIO pit:

Oz8eab1.jpg

I can't tell where the CHAN SEL or MODE knobs (circled in green) for the ARC-182 radio are actually pointing.

The CHAN SEL knob has some oddly ordered channels that you have to cycle through to get to the ones you need to use.

For example, CHAN SEL (going clockwise) goes from OFF -> 243 (guard mode) -> manual -> another guard mode -> preset -> read -> load

That's 7 positions and there is no white line or any marking on the knob showing what function I'm pointing at.

Likewise for the MODE knob. It has 5 different positions, but the knob doesn't tell you where it actually is.

This is very frustrating.

It's very different from the TACAN mode knob (circled in blue), that clearly shows you what its pointing at.

I really do appreciate the level of detail that Heatblur tried to achieve when recreating the cockpit, but some basic functionality, i.e. knowing what positions your knobs and switches are in, is more important to me then how realistic the pit looks.

The AWG-9/AIM-54 cooling switch is another example. There is absolutely no marking on that one at all.

If Heatblur could make a stencil pass and enhance some of the markings, that would be really awesome. Thanks!

+1 on the multi-switches. I love the used look of the cockpit and the details, but where IRL you would use haptic to determine a switch position, I would prefer a working visual cue in the Sim. A white dot or line on the switch cap?

Yeah, the radio knobs as well as the liquid cooling knob are unreadable, which is very frustrating!

Hi guys, we will take this issue on board, Cobra already mentioned at some point that he might review some of the more smudgier markings. In time this should be less of an issue as you get used to it, however I do not think we will include markings that were not there in the real aircraft in the first place. Knobs that cycle around pose the same problem irl as in the sim: you need to keep track of the position, haptics do not help much with that.

But we will most definitely take a second look at it, thank you for the feedback.
