Neutrino Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Hi. I'm contemplating getting the F14, it's still in early access but promises to eventually have two campaigns, one in the Caucuses and one in the Persian Gulf. My question is will purchasing the module include the terrain required for the Persian Gulf campaign or will users be expected to pay for that separately, taking the real cost of the F14 module to an eyewatering $130.
Tippis Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 No, the full F-14 module costs $80 and the full PG module costs $50. Neither comes with the other. ❧ ❧ Inside you are two wolves. One cannot land; the other shoots friendlies. You are a Goon. ❧ ❧
ebabil Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 You have to buy persian gulf map seperately. Neutrino Posted June 6, 2019 Author Posted June 6, 2019 Shouldn't the advert for the F14 module at least make that clear in the requirements then?
Tippis Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Nah. PG isn't exactly a requirement for the F14 module. ❧ ❧ Inside you are two wolves. One cannot land; the other shoots friendlies. You are a Goon. ❧ ❧

You should really take advantage of Sale prices, instead of paying list price all the time. I purchased The PG Map on 30/Nov/2018 at 25% discount, US$ 38. Then, I purchased the F-14 on pre-release for US$ 70 ... so the total cost was actually 108 ... I agree, it is still quite expensive if you think of DCS as a Game ... as a Simulator I find the prices quite reasonable ... every other component of my Sim Rig is more expensive: the GPU, the Hotas, the VR ... and none of those would be useful without DCS, so the most important component is actually the cheapest :D . FoxxyTrotty Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 That's a bit like asking if the monitor comes for free with a graphics card, after all, one is required to make use of the other... But stating the obvious, they are 2 separate products, made by different people, different departments, and in the case of F14 / PG - entirely different companies. To your point about how clear it is regarding the included campaigns, 1 of which is requiring the persian gulf map - I can't attest to that, because it's as obvious as the above. . . . . . . . Every module/ map except the dual winged joke.
SnowTiger Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 In short, the ONLY Map/Terrain that is FREE is the Caucus Map which comes free with DCS World. Not a bad deal and certainly one of the best and most popular maps (for that reason ... more people can join in the fun without extra expense). If you have a tight budget, I would consider purchasing only the Straight of Hormuz Map. I don't think much of the "France"map and other than specific Campaigns and Training, there isn't anything (or much) on the NTTR Map that you can't see or do in the SoH Map. These are of course, My Opinions only. mkiii Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 The other main advantage of the Caucuses map apart from it's price - is that it has the correct infrastructure in place for all those pesky Russian navigation systems so you can make better use of those modules from the Eastern Bloc.
