Sonoda Umi Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 I'm sorry for that it is extremely hard for me to contact the tanker when tanker is turning. So could it be an option to make aerial refueling easier?
Emmy Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 In combat, tankers fly racetrack orbits. That's how it is... Now in practice, you can build a mission where the tanker flies straight and level across an entire map so you can get comfortable with getting saddled and connected but it won't work for combat missions. I mean, what if you request fuel right as the tanker is pointed toward enemy airspace? Can't have it flying into danger, right? Could make a mechanism to let AI tanker track going like a rectangle not have to be a circle? Edited July 19, 2019 by Sonoda Umi
Emmy Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 I know that. Could make a mechanism to let AI tanker track going like a rectangle not have to be a circle? If the waypoints are set up correctly, it should be a fairly wide oval with no more than 10 degrees of bank once the baskets stream or the boom lowers. If you’re seeing a constant tight circle, then the “Orbit” action is at work and not “Race Track.” [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] http://www.476vfightergroup.com/content.php High Quality Aviation Photography For Personal Enjoyment And Editorial Use. www.crosswindimages.com
lucky-hendrix Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 Pointless. Real tanker turn often. You should be able to refuel in a constant turn or whatever. Just need practice. As other said if you can't do it just practice more Sent from my VTR-L09 using Tapatalk
Shimmergloom667 Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 Refueling in a bank is honestly the same as refueling in straight line, only banked. Look for the same cues and just jam it in there. i7 - 9700K | 32 GB DDR4 3200 | RTX 2080 | VKB Gunfighter Mk II /w MCG Pro | Virpil T-50CM2 Throttle | TrackIR 5 | VKB Mk. Shadow KT Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 or you can just setup your tanker for single long waypoint across the whole map and it will never turn, unless it reaches the WP ofc, you can also adjust the length of the straight sections of the race track to your preference 'Shadow' Everybody gotta be offended and take it personally now-a-days
Mars Exulte Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 Whether you're tanking flying straight or in a slight banking turn, you are performing the EXACT same maneuvers. It is literally, 100% in your head. Ignore the horizon, concentrate on the tanker. You want to be wings level with the tanker, if you are, then by definition you will be following him in his turn. If you are NOT wings level with the tanker, then whether he is flying straight or not won't matter, as you'll still not be following him. Alternatively, you can do like Shadow suggests. I will try it later.
