JSpidey Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 Anyone have an issue where they can see the ocean floor? Only when the sun is reflecting off the water does it look normal, looking in any other direction I can see the curves of the ocean floor.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted September 3, 2019 ED Team Posted September 3, 2019 (edited) Hi can you provide a screenshot of what you are seeing and a track replay, let us know what settings you have water on also. Is it a shallow part of the water? thanks Edited September 3, 2019 by BIGNEWY Forum rules - DCS Crashing? razo+r Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 The deepest part in the DCS Oceans isn't deep at all, maybe only like 30m or something like this. Easily detectable/observable if you let your heli/aircraft sink.
Holbeach Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 (edited) It's not very deep. :) If you do this in the middle of the Black Sea, you will drop through the ocean floor into a blue abyss and descend forever. I got to 650' before I ran out of breath. Edited September 4, 2019 by Holbeach ASUS 2600K 3.8. P8Z68-V. ASUS ROG Strix RTX 2080Ti, RAM 16gb Corsair. M2 NVME 2gb. 2 SSD. 3 HDD. 1 kW ps. X-52. JSpidey Posted September 4, 2019 Author Posted September 4, 2019 This is what I managed to take screenshot wise, notice the colorations and how the texture of the water is almost invisible? The 4th picture is the sun reflecting off the water, which looks like how I remember it all the way around. My water setting is on low.

I would guess it’s because the water is on low and it appears that you are running zero MSAA, and zero AF from the looks of the edges of everything. You are rendering the absolute minimum amount of information so this seems like it may be normal? I’ve never tried anything but ultra on everything so I could be wrong.

MSAA is on x2 and AF is on x16, everything else is on low because I use VR
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted September 4, 2019 ED Team Posted September 4, 2019 Do you have any wind in the mission? If you have some wind it will get some movement going in the water, it may help with the look. It looks like a nice day for fishing on a mill pond :) Forum rules - DCS Crashing? JSpidey Posted September 5, 2019 Author Posted September 5, 2019 I figured it out, it was just because water was on low setting. Lol, thanks for your help though guys.
