You imagine if this thing would have become operational?

I don't know how effective it would have been but the size of this missile coming at you would have been terrifying.

Specially if you where on a slow aircraft like an A-4 or A-7

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

The S-200 Vega, which was built instead of the S-50, also wasn't tiny, with the lenght of 10 meters a rocket

They even shot a Tu-154 back in 2001...

just came to my mind because SAM simulator v0.9.21 was released recently, now including the S-200

TOP OF THE FOOD CHAIN :D

^^^ This is top of nothing chain. It says PAK-FA but as we all know the real PAK-FA has nothing to do with that artistic concept. And certainly its place is not in Military and Aviation section.

An amazing picture released by Lockheed Martin:

The second F-35B short takeoff/vertical landing jet, BF-2, descends to a vertical landing on 12 January 2011 at NAS Patuxent River, Maryland. Marine Lt. Col. Fred Schenk piloted the aircraft during the flight, which was the eighty-second for the aircraft.

"See, to me that's a stupid instrument. It tells what your angle of attack is. If you don't know you shouldn't be flying." - Chuck Yeager, from the back seat of F-15D at age 89.
