The hangar in the background was nicknamed the "Zeppelin Hangar". It now houses the fighter squadrons operating from Santa Cruz, in the oustkirts of Rio de Janeiro.

Related to that, some interesting footage, even if you can't get a single word.

That video is from 1997. Later that year, there was an auction and all of the 5 aircraft got sold. The bidder also bought a hangar to house the F-5Bs. The aircraft were sold for US$3,1 millions. After lots of auctions, the auction as a whole was cancelled and they went to direct sale, which was cancelled too. As far as I know, the aircraft were never delivered. Here's the receipt, showing the 5 aircraft, the engines, the manuals and documents and supplies:

They are not selling the trainers, but only the F-5Bs. We still operate the F-5F, undergoing an upgrade to F-5FM standards.

I forgot to give credits to this marvelous website, some excellent information and footage there (if you speak Portuguese or don't mind using an online translator, of course): http://pbrasil.wordpress.com/2010/05/30/os-tigres-da-fab-historia-e-curiosidades/

And Bucic, the Orlik is uglier than those monsters Topol-M used to post here :D. Looks like a creepy mix of a Texan II and a cropduster :music_whistling:

And our guy's guns are bigger than yours :P

EDIT: On the video posted before, there are very few seconds of footage from the Super Hornet prototype in-flight as well :)

Have I mentioned already that Tucano is the ugliest turboprop trainer in the world? :P

I prefer the original tucano, there is nothing wrong with supporting your countrys products even if they don't look as good as the tucanos:thumbup:

Argentina really missed the bus by not developing the pucara into a competitive product, they could have taken Embraer spot. Our airforce received one few years back as posible replacement for the bronco but we soon discovered that we could not maintain it because of the lack of spares. The same happened to the OV-10 we could not get spares for them so we had to buy the tucanos and supertucanos

Take that F-15, your not the only one that can do that now :D

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..

The PZL-130 is smaller, uglier (those fins are hideous :D) and chubbier than the Tucano.

The Super Tucano is a bit bigger and more badass than it's older brother. I've found this cool comparsion:

Here are some pics of the Armée de l'Air EMB-312F. Retired in 2009, unfortunately...

Yeah right, the terminator radio model is coming!

The jokes aside it`s interesting how many countries are conducting research in this area. It will be interesting to see which one will start tests of a full scale prototype next.

I'm rather unsure about this development, everybody is talking about fighting terrorism but all of them are developing new stealth planes and/or ships.

Some brains still seem to be in cold war, what a waste of time and money...

Wow they're flying pretty low. Damn, I hate those little buggers. Especially after cleaning a few Cessnas of them. Can't imagine cleaning AN-2.

Some interesting S-125 footage by Russian operators. Shows launches at various targets to air and ground and the radar screen indications and descriptions of what is going on. Also the effects of jamming are visible. The music is pretty weird though...

Great vid. You know as I get older and thanks to such vids I get appreciation to vintage machines like this. In fact I would have nothing against flying something like this

I mean, this thing performs almost combat missions and handles probably very closely to some WW2 machines!!! :notworthy:

I do have a little more pictures, but all the others are of the same aircrafts shown here... If i had my own camera to use for myself, you would have gotten much more pictures.
