I wish I was clever enough to come up with that pick, but I just saw it in "bookface" and had to share. Like this one

You mean she didn't deserve the particular medal?

No, and now every useless, non mission essential person is trying to get it.

Just my opinion, sorry

That's what "V"-devices are for. I lost all faith in how commendations are awarded long long ago, so all I can really say is more power to her, and congrats. Remember, it was her chain of command that awarded it to her, she didn't give it to herself.

Besides, I never thought of getting paid as "useless" or "non-essential".

Also, you'll note that all awards have been awarded more often "per capita" in every conflict as time goes on...which means when my daughter grows up, if she joins the military, she can expect to have more medals than will fit on her uniform!

Truly outstanding stuff.

Cameraman Killed by Bomb on US Aircraft Carrier - A camerman on board an aircraft carrier is filming the incoming planes land, some damged, others not. He was unlucky enough to be filming at the time a bomb had been released by a plane that had just landed. The bomb had in fact been released in the air but had failed to detach from the plane. The impact of the landing dislodged the armed bomb, setting it free to bounce down the runway. The bomb the detonates.

Aircraft: BOMBARDIER INC DHC-8-402

During the approach to land, the flight crew reported a bird strike to the leading edge of the right wing. The crew declared an emergency and made an uneventful landing at their destination. A postaccident examination of the airplane revealed a 12-inch-diameter hole in the leading edge of the right wing centered between the right engine nacelle and the right wing tip. The damaged area was covered in bird remains, which were identified as the remains of a Common Loon (Gavia immer). The average weight for the species is about 10.9 pounds.
