rattler Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 This issue seems to be repeating itself. What Falcon4.0 went through, we the Lockon community will now do what Falconers did. Upgrades by the community. We have one thing better going for us and that is a stable platform. If RV were stable F4af would not stand a chance. Lockon and the community here have a chance to make Lockon the envey of fast movers. We have some outstanding modders and if they stay with us , Lockon will only get better. Too bad ED can't see this. I wish them all the best of luck with DCS:BS but there is a lot of room for a disaster. I.E. addons. Don't think that can be kept up. Hope they surprise the hell out of me on this one. Lockon modders go go go.Cheers.

TorwaK Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 I'm grumbling only about ED will shrug off Lock-On after some time because of concantrate to air to ground aviation. RvETito Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 ED has never separated or opposed A2G to A2A aspect. And that's more than natural since both can not compete for one and the same being so different. There are tons of reasons that even we, testers are not aware of why Ka-50 has been chosen for modeling. Same goes for the Apache and A-10 that will follow. But BS proves one thing- ED has the resources and knowledge to create the best sim out there. Since they can model a coaxial helicopter with such depth which I believe is much harder for programming than supersonic fighter because it's not so well studied IRL yet I'm confident the fighter module for DCS will follow someday. I also love fighter aircraft but that doesn't stop me enjoying the helicopter. "See, to me that's a stupid instrument. It tells what your angle of attack is. If you don't know you shouldn't be flying." - Chuck Yeager, from the back seat of F-15D at age 89. =RvE=
Blacknemisis Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 Well I only want 2 things before Lock on sails off to the old blue yonder =). #1. Those models that eds teams was working put into FC. The Su-27,Mig 29, and Su-25. #2. The code to the cockpits so that the modders can make way better 3D cockpits. After that we can put Lock on 6 feet under lol!.
rattler Posted October 15, 2007 Author Posted October 15, 2007 Too bad ED cant see what ? Remember - ED made Lomac modable and other than Falcon they continue to bring new sims to the market. Why they ignored the moddlers, that improved on the original models. They could have accepted their mods and improved Lockon. Where do you think they got the A10 for DCS:BS, I could make a pretty good guess but I think you also know. What help did Walmis get from ED and look at what he did before his unfortunate accident with the files. That's what ED has turned their head from and IMHO, they should have encouraged this. They admit they are a small group but we have a large community with outstanding expertise that could have been drawen from. That's me. You might think me all wet and out of touch with reality but that is the way I see it. Not saying it's right or wrong but should not have been ignored.

S77th-GOYA Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 It was past time for ED to cut bait on this code and its limitations. (And its ties to UBI) But I do think its customers are due a final patch. F4 modders are working with very old sim and why can't LOMAC modders work with a newer sim. There are still people modding for Jane's WWII Fighters. The fact that the dev no longer provides support makes no difference.
Highwayman-Ed Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Anything to distance themselves from UBI, is a good thing. With the exception of the IL-2 series, I have never had a game published by UBI stay on my hard drive for longer than a couple of weeks... rattler Posted October 16, 2007 Author Posted October 16, 2007 Ignore? Many community modelers are helping BS development. Exactly. Totally agree. MY question is why did the mods only end up in BS. They could have been put in Lockon just as easily. Instead they kept them for BS. Not saying that is a bad thing mind you. I wish BS every success but it cost Lockon in the process. IMHO. I am sure the community modders will continue to support Lockon and it will be around for some time yet. Yes Teka you are one of those community modders we rely on for Lockon and hope when you have the time again you continue. I understand you are busy now with the ED Team but I am sure we will see more of your outstanding Lockon improvements.Cheers.
