Havremonster Posted October 11, 2019 Posted October 11, 2019 Lately or after the second last update my Saitek Pro X52 is acting strange in the game. it behaves strange when I turn or rise. It behaves like an on and off switch instead of soft as it once was. Does anyone else have the same problem? It seems perfectly normal in the Windows control panel. All buttons also work just fine so the problem is only on the X and Y axis in the game. Also tried an old Logitech Pro joystick and felt the same problem. Also tried different settings on axis tuning. Is it my stick or is it the game? It is almost impossible making soft movements now.
Rudel_chw Posted October 11, 2019 Posted October 11, 2019 i’d first try to do a "dcs_updater repair", if the problem persists then try renaming the /saved games/dcs/ folder, say into dcs.bak ... this will force DCS to re-create the folder with default values, if this correct the problem you may later recover from the dcs.bak most of its content (like your logbook, liveries, etc). Havremonster Posted October 11, 2019 Author Posted October 11, 2019 Nothing helped. Guess it must be the stick...
Havremonster Posted October 14, 2019 Author Posted October 14, 2019 Anyone With this stick that have or have had the same problem? Can't make smooth movements with the x and y axis. It is a spessial problem when flying helicopters or ww2 planes. Very difecult to make small corrections.
javelina1 Posted October 14, 2019 Posted October 14, 2019 years ago when I was using the x52, I ended up performing both the magnet and tension mod's too it. Not saying it'll help with your current issue. But it did help improve the precision for this setup. I later went the TMWH (but well down the road). MadDog-IC Posted October 14, 2019 Posted October 14, 2019 Anyone With this stick that have or have had the same problem? Can't make smooth movements with the x and y axis. It is a special problem when flying helicopters or ww2 planes. Very difficult to make small corrections. Sounds like the problem I have had with my x52pro for years, it is at least twice as sensitive on the X and Y axis when first used to fly the aircraft, I have to do a quick calibration when ever I fly an aircraft by running the X and Y axis full ranges, it then works correctly until I die and get into another aircraft, then I have to do the quick calibration again. I have tried multiple versions of the drivers over the years, registery tweaks and calibrations, but nothing has ever fixed the problem. As you say it is highly annoying and I don't know how many times I have collided the rotor blades in the Ka-50 and mast bumped the rotors in the Huey, along with the frustrations of trying to Air to Air refuel other aircraft. I now have a Thrustmaster Warthog, but haven't even set it up to use it in DCS as yet. I would still prefer to use the X52pro if it worked 100% correctly as it fits the hands better and I have better muscle memory with it because of the years using it with my own custom DCS profiles. Good luck with it, if you figure it out let us know the fix. Regards, Ian. Havremonster Posted October 15, 2019 Author Posted October 15, 2019 Thank you for the answer. The strange thing is that it looks and feel perfect in Windows Control panel but in the game the up/down axes I have to move about 10 or 15 % up or down before it suddently respond. I do not use any deadzone in the option in game or in Windows Control panel. I have used the stick for about two years but have used it a lot. Been very happy with it until now. So I hope to find a solution for the problem. Have been tempted to change for a X-56, but afraid it will be the same after some use. Of cause my dream is a Thrustmaster Warthog but it is an exspensive dream...too exspensive right now :)
Rick50 Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 Have you tried the very simple "magnet mod"? you just buy four little magnets, pop the back cover, and put the new magnets on the old magnets... Might not solve your problem, that might be software related... but maybe work for you.
Mouse_99 Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 Kind of late to the party, but, This might help. If you go to controls in DCS, then got to Axis commands, click on the control you want to adjust and click on axis tune at the bottom, a window pops up allowing you to adjust the performance of the control. In your case, you might try increasing/decreasing the saturation of the x and y axis and see if it has an influence. doing it there will keep you from having to make adjustments in the cockpit every time you jump into a plane.
