Mizzy
Dear ED Firstly congratulations on your new business model for high quality flight simulations, I personally feel this is the best news for us sim people since the genre began. Anyway, could one of your representatives please give some guidance in how to mod LOMAC from an inside perspective? For instance: 1. What attributes causes fog control and how to manipulate it? 2. Can we manipulate cloud cover, shape, dimension etc ? 3. What does the effects file do exactly and what does it control? 4. How can we lenghten the wake on ships? 5. How can we shorten the contrail on aircraft? 6. Where did the cirrus clouds go from Flanker 2 and can we have them back??? 7. Where did the air vortex go from aircraft pulling high Gs in Flanker 2 and can we have it back in LOMAC please? 8. Will the cloud shadow problem ever be fixed in mountain regions? 9. Can I arrange a visit to speak to the fella from ED in Russia personally for some tea and biscuits and a night on the town? Hope to hear from you soon. Kindest regards Mizzy

Vekkinho
Great questions and a nice remnder of cirrus clouds from Flanker days! Nice idea on shortening contrails, I hate seeing a plane in a loop between waypoints flying through his contrail after half an hour! But I have those wing-tip vortices during high G pulls, are there any other You're thinking of?!! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Boberro
I hope there will be also thunderbolt which can destroy\damage your Ka-50. Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... I think he means the vortices coming off the wing roots, which sometimes appear when an aircraft is flying under high angles of attack. grisha
Open answer from Eagle Dynamics... Dear Mizzy Firstly you, together with our fan community as a whole, have my gratitude for unrelentless faith in our team and our projects. Thank you. Anyway, as a representative of ED (and a lead graphics programmer) I can give some guidance in how to mod LOMAC from an inside perspective. For instance: 1. What attributes causes fog control and how to manipulate it? There are two types of fog: distance fog and layered fog. Distance fog is controlled by FogParam1 & FogParam2 in graphcis.cfg. C++: meltByDistance = (1 - exp( -distance * forParam1 / farClipPlane)) * fogParam2; distance = distance from camera to the object farClipPlane = maximum visibility distance (30km - 70km in LockOn) Layered fog is controlled via low/high limits and strength in Meteo options. C++: meltByLayer = (1 - exp( -distInLayer / strength)) * 1.01f; distInLayer = distance passed inside fog layer from camera to the object Fog for objects and for terrain surface is implemented in different parts of the program, so there may be some inconsistences between the two when you play with parameters. There are various other parameters that can affect visibility of a particular object: - Camera visibility distances in graphics.cfg - Individual shape's visibility multiplier in *Table.sht - Cloud occlusion 2. Can we manipulate cloud cover, shape, dimension etc ? At the moment we cannot provide tools to modify cloud shape. You've made a great cloud mod actually, I've never expected it is possible to do with controls we provided. 3. What does the effects file do exactly and what does it control? I don't understand, what file exactly do you mean? There are lots of files describing effects in LockOn. 4. How can we lenghten the wake on ships? There's no way to mod it at the moment, but it is possible we'll make some controls for them. 5. How can we shorten the contrail on aircraft? There's no way to mod it at the moment, but it is possible we'll make some controls for them. 6. Where did the cirrus clouds go from Flanker 2 and can we have them back??? No, there are no plans to implement them at the moment. 7. Where did the air vortex go from aircraft pulling high Gs in Flanker 2 and can we have it back in LOMAC please? No, there are no plans to implement that at the moment. 8. Will the cloud shadow problem ever be fixed in mountain regions? Well, 'ever' is a very strong word. Maybe. 9. Can I arrange a visit to speak to the fella from ED in Russia personally for some tea and biscuits and a night on the town? Sure, you can stay at my place, it's five minutes walking distance from the office. Contact me via PM. Some of these issues will be addressed in Black Shark or patches to it. Mizzy
THANK YOU EAGLE DYNAMICS. The graphics are beautiful art and now I can try and play around with them. I am going to have to get permission from my Partner to come to Moscow, but he won't mind if I say I am staying with close friends from Lock On..... he knows how much I love the game hehe. :D Seriously, we are hoping to go to Moscow/Russia for a special holiday, but its getting expensive in Moscow. We were hoping to tie it in with an airshow event. Keep you posted on this. Regards Mizzy.

My wife and I visited Moscow in May, and visited the Tretyakov Gallery - fantastic. If you have local contacts for advice on hotels and restaurants, Moscow is not so expensive, certainly cheaper than London! Regards Having problems? Vekkinho
I payed my visit to Moscow three months ago, from 18 thru 26th August. Main reason of me travelling there was MAKS 2007 . I came few days before MAKS opening so I had enought time to stroll the streets of Moscow, visit museums and meet people and russian lifestyle. I must say I was impressed by the way things are in Moscow. It's not expensive as I thought it would be. You can change money in banks or in many exchange offices and 1US$ was 25.5 rubles. You'll get 35 Rubles per 1 Euro. Cigarettes (Marlboro, Lucky Strike) are 25 Rubles (1 dollar). You don't have prices like that in rest of the Europe. I strongly advise Baltika, Stariy Melnik or Zolotaya Bochka if you like beer! If not, you should definitely try Kvas, non-alcoholic drink available at every corner! For shopping souvenires go to Stariy Arbat street. Lots of CCCP memorabilia, matryoshka's and other Russian artwork! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
RvEYoda
Wow, thanks ED. I don't think i have ever seen a post like this here before. Must say big plus. Maybe you could give us a msg whenever you decide if you will or will not do the 1.13 patch? S = SPARSE(m,n) abbreviates SPARSE([],[],[],m,n,0). This generates the ultimate sparse matrix, an m-by-n all zero matrix. - Matlab help on 'sparse'
