Well, it's still working OK, so obviously, it was a power to USB issue for me. I hope you get your working OK.

Not sure I follow you. What's the difference?

Check PCI Bus Interface with GPU-Z. When your GPU is a PCI 16x3.0 capable card it will show that in the Bus Interface data and nothing else in the way it will read like PCIe 16x3.0 @ 16x3.0. When you add a card like yours (i had a similiar one before), it will read like PCIe 16x3.0 @ 8x3.0. It's because you need plug that card into a big GPU PCIe slot and that sits on the same bus as your GPU card and isn't capable of addressing 16 lanes

Now performance suffer is only down 1% roughly so you won't notice much of it.

Sorry, still not with you. The 2 cards look the same to me, and this is what I see in GPU-Z with the card installed, i.e. PCIe x16 3.0@16 3.0.

Then it's OK.

It all has to do with the part that goes into the PCI slot. If this is to big (like my first card was), you can not put it into a PCI 1 slot and need to put it into a PCI 3 slot. This cogs down the PCI lanes from 16 to 8.

But, i took a closer look on my previous card and the Inateck you use and the part that goes into PCI slot is different and bigger on my previous card. Your card will fit a small PCI slot just fine. I mislooked...

Well, switching to my powered hub seems to have solved my problem! I just need to put the headset on and up pops the Cliff House!

How long will it last?

Ahhhgggg.... Just got in to work and picked up my hub... It's not externally powered....

Back on amazon to order the correct item lol

Read the previous posts. It was a powered HUB that resolved it for me.

Ah got ya. Thought he said his hub was not externally powered.

I use an external hub for good measure but I expected a motherboard 3.0 USB would cut it (especially after removing all USB devices.). Maybe it depends on the motherboard.

But yea the Reverb demands a lot of jiggawats

What resolved the issue?

Nothing has resolved the issue for me. I bought an externally powered USB hub and still got the same error. I have called HP support and they have been next to no help! I am waiting to receive a DOA (dead on arrival) report from them so I can send it back. I'm gutted as I was soooo looking forward to the higher resolution that the Reverb produces. There is nothing left to check so it looks like I'm resigned to the fact there are higher forces at work here. I've updated everything I can, unplugged and re-plugged everything I can, I have a better spec PC than HP suggest and nothing I do will make it work....

Sounds like the cable is the issue based on my experience. The moment you start having those get one ordered cuz they are usually backorderd.

It might also just be the whole headset where the cable plugs into it. Same advice.

I was just having this issue, and mine was an issue with the newest Nvidia driver, 441.61; for some reason it just was not initializing itself. I rolled back to 441.41. EVGA 1080ti SC2. Might be something to look into -- if you don't have the Nvidia control panel icon in the bottom right corner, and/or you go to device manager and look under display adapters and your GPU is showing a caution sign, it's because your driver didn't initialize -- no driver == no go.

I could get .61 to run right after I installed it, but as soon as a reboot happens, it fails to initialize, and I'd either have to install .61 again, or just roll back to .41 and be happy.

I have raised the issue with HP Support and although they don't think it's a hardware problem, they have raised a DOA report and I am getting the whole system replaced by HP. Not sure how long it will take though...

I was using 441.41 and that was the driver I couldn't get the headset to work with. I only upgraded the Nvidia drivers to 441.66 yesterday but by then the headset was already packed up and ready for its return journey to HP. I will now just wait until I get my replacement and see what happens then... I'm not actually that hopeful to be honest lol...

Be proactive. They should send you updates, if its more than a few days demand to be escalated to customer care.

So guys, I'm thinking a new GPU is in order... If I'm going to do it I'm going to do it big.... So I'm thinking a GTX 2080 ti. Should I go ASUS, MSI, ZOTAC, EVGA, Gigabyte.....?

@harlikwin @imacken :- Guys, I see you use a 2080ti with your systems (which almost the same as mine (I have an i7 7700). What settings are you using in VR, are you able to 'push it to the max' with your graphics settings and get good performance (FPS etc) on your HP Reverb?

My settings are set moderate to fairly high. PD1.0 and IIRC 160-180% steam super sampling. I have basic shadows on, grass/trees near max etc. I can pull solid 45fps without 2x msaa, and in the mid 30's with it on (online). I honestly haven't tweaked it for maximum performance by any stretch of the imagination. I'm not even mildly OC'ing my GFX card anymore like I was with my CV1.

Most of my settings are high in DCS. No MSAA, basic shadows and SteamVR SS at 150%.

I manage to run a pretty solid 45fps with 90fps quite regularly at higher altitudes.

Here are some screenshots of the settings I'm running with my Reverb.

The only thing that I have changed is the SteamVR SS. Until the F-16 module came along, setting that above 100% didn't seem to yield a noticeable improvement in clarity (flying mostly in the A-10C). But, when the F-16 module came along, I did some experimentation and found that I saw a pretty massive improvement in clarity when I went from 100% SS to 150%. I kept everything else the same as it is in the screenshots, and I get good performance with very rare ghosting or stuttering.
