So in the F-16, there are two things that I am not sure they are real or not (Personally, I don't think they are real in real life)

1, I can do supercruise at Mach 1.03 at altitude 26000 feet without using afterburner (aircraft all cleaned up).

2, I can do 9G turn with any payload onboard and nothing will be damaged

#1, absolutely. A clean F-16, at medium altitudes can attain and sustain just over M1 in the real world. At higher altitudes, no.

#2, there will be lower limits depending on environment, stores load, fuel remaining etc.

That's not supercruise. Per definition it's a significantly higher Mach number than 1.0, e.g. > M1.4.

Also. Supercruise is cruising supersonic with a useful load. A clean hornet can also go/stay supersonic without using AB... but not with any weapons. This is not supercruising IMHO.

Regarding point 2, currently there is no weapon or pylon damage due to Over-G, this will happen further down the line hopefully. I believe in a AG loadout the G limit is usually 5.5Gs.

Number 2 is wrong and WIP. If you pull 9G's with stores other than missiles and maybe empty wing tanks, you'll break the stations/pylons for sure. I always thought Selecting Cat 3 limited the amount of onset G's to around 5 but Panther said the real jet will allow you to pull max G regardless of Cat 3 or not. I'll take her word for it.

I was expecting a very different topic with that thread title. :-D

I’m looking forward to stores/aircraft damage when performing an over G. This leads me to ask: is the Cat I/Cat II switch functional at this point? Isn’t it supposed to limit Gs based off what setting it’s on?

Commonly held misconception. The Cat-III switch does many things like limit AoA, AoA onset rate and Roll Rate but the only G limiter is your right hand.

As others have sorta said both are wrong.

Supercruise is loosely defined, but typically requires a speed sufficient for tactical advantage. Transonic region is not supercruise, need to get up into 1.3 minimum, really 1.5... but its still cool. The viper will generally hit the numbers you mention though, its just not supercruise as it has come to be defined.

Just like all aircraft limits decrease with gross weight. Hornet, viper, tomcat... Put a passenger in the back of an Su-29 aerobatic prop plane and max G drops from +/-12 to +/- 10.

For a minute there I was seriously confused. I read this by RaisedByWolves:

"I asked a female I went out with the other night the exact same question".

Did not get what he was trying to say, knew there was a joke there somewhere.

Reread all post above that one. Then saw this post by IRememberJeep:"

I then looked at the title of the thread and realized I need to improve my situational awareness skills.
