SkyGambler Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 ED just fix their CFD data of AIM120, so when will they fix other missiles such as r77 r27? I hope ED can give a statement.
Grimes Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 It is premature to say that the AIM-120 is completely fixed. Perhaps other missiles will be looked at in the future, perhaps not. I would think updating the FM of most missiles would be part of updating missile FM capabilities though. So probably a matter of time. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. SkyGambler Posted December 21, 2019 Author Posted December 21, 2019 Atleast the drag error just found on AIM120 is solved properly, so the same error on other missiles can also be solved by the same way. I think it's appropriate to adjust all missiles rather than just adjust AIM120.
Mars Exulte Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 It's not ''fixing'', it's ''adjusting''. Drag and associated characteristics is not a copy paste exercise. Each real missile must be researched, valuea determined or coded, implemented on its ingame counterpart, tested, adjusted some more, etc... one by one for each weapon. Missile flight characteristics are as complicated as an airplanes, just it goes boom at the end of its flight. All the folks wanting ''improved, more realistic'' are going to have to accept it will be a gradual process. Additional statements are unnecessary. They already said they're redoing missiles across the game. That's all there is to it. Thus far AiM-7 and AiM-120 have been changed. It's given the others will follow. Jusr like when they updated the FC3 flight models and people threw unwarranted fits about if the MiG would be updated too... surprise, it was. Cintra Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 "oh boo hoo, they fixed someone else's stuff so now I need to complain about my stuff too!"...… Come on guys! Let ED fix the AIM120 in peace, we are ALL glad it's getting fixed. I'm very sure they are keeping their eyes on the other missiles too and will fix when they have more data and I'm even more sure that ED knew people would complain about the other missiles to start off with, so let them do their work and calm down a bit.
Sn8ke_iis Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 (edited) Nick Grey Hoggit comment on missile FM's "Dear Sir and Community members, many thanks for your support and feedback. Please note that the SD-10 also has WIP issues, especially pertaining to drag, both parasitic and induced. We are finishing the full Flow Dynamics on this and other missiles in order to have a detailed discussion with our good friends at DEKA and HB in the near future. FYI we use both Ansys Fluent and Flow Vision software for our FM calculations for both AC and missiles. In Q1 of 2020, we plan to make available all our CFD calculations, performance graphs and data sets for most of our missiles and AC in DCS. We have set ourselves a hard target of delivering to you the most reliable and precise missile FM and guidance laws in order to put any uncertainty or lack of clarity to bed. This work is being done with the assistance of all our SME's and 'friends' in industry and while not all data is openly available, our aerodynamics and missile specialists will deliver a very scientific report for those of you who wish to cross-examine our calculations and findings in detail. Our goal is to move closer and closer to reality where and when possible and to deliver enhanced combat realism and customer satisfaction. That goes for airframe aerodynamics, engines and systems as well. We know we have a long way to go but we are committed to continuing in this direction with purpose. Once again thanks to you and all our passionate community we hope to achieve a level of excellence which may be up to your expectations. We really appreciate your commitment and devotion to DCS, thank you again. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your families. Kind regards, Nick" Edit: As requested, Edited December 21, 2019 by Sn8ke_iis
sylkhan Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 ..I'm very sure they are keeping their eyes on the other missiles too and will fix when they have more data a bit.... More data of what ?, do you think ED have true data about specific missile, nah it's impossible, all is only estimations, even CIA don't have true data about russian R77 or other missiles :). They do with the informations they have, and these informations, everybody can have them. After they can adjust these infos to have the game thay want to have, nothing more. But nothing is real, just pure speculation :)

Terrorban Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 Why does ED drop official statements in random locations were not many people are looking? Seems like their employees are more active in reddit than here. These are very big statements for just posting as a reply to some negative comment which gets hidden automatically.
