Hey y'all, I'm pretty tight on HD space atm, this is probably a stupid question but I need to know before going forward, to install the Open beta do I need to uninstall everything 2.5.5 and just redownload everything to use the beta? OR is there a way of updating 2.5.5 TO the beta?

Bottom line, I have 2.5.5 installed and rock'n, but I want the beta to mess around with the new F85 campaign. low on HD space, looking for best way, new HDD not an option right this second.

thanks

There is a possibility to switch to OpenBeta. Check this thread:

https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=114030

In short: Open a cmd prompt in your DCS World\bin folder* and type this in:

DCS_updater.exe update @openbeta

You can switch back to Stable by replacing the last bit by @release

* Right click your DCS link, select Open File Path (don't know how it's actually called in English Windows, it's in the uppermost block though), there right click, while holding down your Shift key, your bin subfolder in the tree structure to the left and select Open Command Prompt / PowerShell (depending on Win version and reg setting - 10 has PowerShell, but can be switched back to cmd via registry - and again, I don't know how it's exacly called).

Powershell is basically the new and more powerful version of cmd. But many feel more comfortable with the old one if they don't use the new stuff. Powershell has been part of Windows since Vista, so it's already 13 years old.

On my PC at least, the CMD commands don't work in PowerShell.

Instead, I need to type:

.\DCS_updater.exe update @openbeta

Note the extra " .\ "

^ That's because powershell does indeed require somewhat different command syntax compared to good old cmd window. As long as user keeps that in mind, one is as good as the other for our purposes.

Same with me, though I normally just type cmd and type dcs_updater.exe etc from there.
